Ok Bitch pregnant 39/40 days.Yesterday found swelling on one side of vulva, today it has got larger.Bitch well in herself.Took her to vets today temp normal no discharge, swelling not painful, no abcess just this soft large swelling on one side.Scanned her, pups are fine. Vet has not got a clue what it is, she got 2nd opinion from another vet who also doesn't know.Any ideas ? As if it keeps getting bigger I am taking her back tomorrow.

Hi Paxo not sure what it is but bitches can get bacterial infections which can cause swelling to the vulva, i'd take her for another vets opinion if it starts causing her any trouble.  Good luck

this happened to my girl and i was freaked at first i asked on here and someone told me some girls do it and its like a cushioning for the birth and my vet agreed. she first swelled on one side then the other until the whole vulva was hanging its was a little more pinker in colour and the only discharge she had was the clear mucus before birth does this sound like what is happening to your girl ?

                ive been reading about your puppys and i woundered weather you could give me some advice I have a pomeranian called elly, ilove her to bits . Shes jus coming up for five November 2006. I have been told that breeding a pom after 5 yrs old is dangerous. shes in her season at the moment and im really thinking about letting her have puppies. I thought because you have had some experience in puppies you may be able to give me some advice. as i said she means everything to me . I dont want to risk her. We have a stud dog lined up for this sunday (just to see him and to meet his owner ). Please could you write back as i really need some help quick. She is a nice size . alot bigger than other pomeranians. We have been told that she would have know trouble but im not so sure . Her mum had no trouble having her.????????
could you help?> what are the risks ??????? How many things are likely to go wrong????i dont want to lose her!
