Topic Dog Boards / General / Kennels Recommendation
- By baileylove [in] Date 04.01.06 13:04 UTC
I live in Camberley in Surrey and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good boarding kennel. My dog has been in kennels before but I am not happy with the one I have been using as last time he was there he came out looking a bit thin, and my mum's boxer came out looking very skinny. Does anyone use Aldington Kennels in Bagshot?

This boarding kennel has a very good reputation and is used by several people I know.

In the absence of any other local recommendations ...

I'm fortunate in that to date I've never had to use boarding kennels, but perhaps you could visit Ryslip in Bracknell and have a look? - or someone else may have used and be able to review.

I would expect them to be good, in that they have been in the same ownership for many years and are owned by a very prominent doggy family with a reputation to uphold.  They also seem to retain staff (many must have been there for 20 years!) and their staff seem to be genuine dog lovers.

So, no personal experience, but worth a look I'd say.

I have used Ryslip kennels a few years ago when I had to put my dog in quarantine. I would say that I was very pleased with them
My dog after 6 months was in good condition and was fed on a premium dog food. Although I would class it as a no frills kennel, but run by dedicated, kind and knowledgeable staff. I believe that this is more important than a place that looks a million dollars.
I used it solely on a recommendation, which is always the best way to go.  Though of course this was the quarantine side and not the ordinary boarding kennels. As you say it is run/owned by a highly reputable doggy family. HTH.

Ryslip kennels is the one that I have been using, based on a recommendation from a vet. I've never had a problem there before but this time both dogs seemed to come out in a worse condition than when they went in. Thanks for the help though, going to have a look round Aldington Kennels next week.
