I was reading either the mail or express yesterday and there was an article on the inspiration of the charachter Vicky Pollard from Little Britain.  Anyway the character was born after time out magazine featured 2 girls on the front cover in 2001 - apparently they looked like chavs (as we know them today).  Well the nespaper caught up with the girls and one who left school with NO qualifications is now pregnant and GET THIS..........

Her and her boyfriend apprently have 2 rottweilers and they are going to "make a living breeding them", it quoted "apparently we can get £300 per pup".

Your comments on a postcard please......... :-)

Happy New Year

   Well a quick calculation tells me that to make £12 000 a year, to equal a low salary, they'd need to breed 40 puppies, and have NO outlay at all for food and vet's bills or anything of the like. Quite apart from all the obvious stuff about how idiotic and horrible the whole idea is -how do you get 40 pups a year from one bitch?!

People like this don't think like most people so there's no point in trying to apply your own logic.  They might be thinking that they can add the puppy sales to their benefits (if they collect them) so they would be thinking they can't lose.  They might also be thinking that they keep a couple of bitches from the first litter and breed from them.

you know what could happen, some dimwit may read that and think "what a good idea - I will do the same".....  :-)  then mind boggles....

Lisa I know of a dimwit that did just that :rolleyes:bought herself two dogs and the rest is history....one bitch at only 2 1/2  is already waiting to be bred from again:mad:....

People can be incredibly stupid can't they?  This senseless breeding for profit seems to have become far more common in the last couple of years.  I've dealt with literally dozens of people who buy a bitch, meet someone in the street with a dog that looks vaguely similar and arrange a mating purely on that basis!  What I find even more mindboggling is that there are many people out there who buy a puppy from a "warehouse" (I've actually heard that word being used in this context), not having seen its parents or littermates, are given a pedigree that has been drawn in crayon, are given no information whatsoever about the pup's vacc/flea/worm status etc. and the buyers, handing over hundreds of pounds, see nothing wrong with this!  Insanity :-(

I've actually had someone say to me - oh she's a wonderful breeder - do you know, she's bred over 1,000 puppies

From what i've seen of this country's doley system, i doubt they need the extra 12,000 pounds...

Yeah but no but yeah but no but SHUT UP! We can breed rockweillers and have loooads of kids claim the dole and make load of money off the pups and sell them in the loot and anyway that woman with the 5 kids down the road does it with staffies and she's a sl*g. :D :D :D

the thing that always gets me is people will think (stupid ones) they will make a profit, but even if you dont do the vet stuff if you add up what you spend on food for any dog in a year you wont even make that back from the pups. Then ofcourse all those pups with out parent vet checks and pup wet checks might be returned and theyll have to find the money to return these peoples money. It really does your head in trying to explain the costs to idiots who just see the dollar sings that they will make and not the ones they will spend
