Gabi is fed on BARF diet and has for the last 2 days refused her breakfast (really unusual) She was 2 years old on Xmas Eve. This means that for 2 days she has only had RMBs. Is this normal at this age to reduce food intake? She weighs 38.4 kilo's, and I have been giving her 1 kilo of food per day 50% RMB 50% other. Should I reduce both for now and see how things go? 

Hi gabi, my RRs on on the barf diet, and my bitches of about the same weight are having a bit less than that, but of course all dogs are individuals.  My girls have 4 med size chicken wings for breakfast and about a pound pack of mince with veggies in the evening.  But I do vary the amounts if they are looking either tubby or lean.  Is she a little on the tubby side or is she lean?  If she is not lean, your idea of reducing both meals slightly sounds very sensible.  What rmb are you feeding her and what else?

she could decide she is not hungry (why do I never have dogs like this)? :D, could she be in season?  perhaps she is not well.

As for amounts, again difficult to say without seeing the dog, I have two dogs of similar weights, but they eat vastly differing amounts because of their activity, temperament and sex differences.

If in doubt, reduce her meals and see.......,

Gabi was weighed at the vets just before Xmas to calculate for worming tablets. She is neither fat nor thin, just right really. She has chicken wings for RMB's I was alternating with ox tail and pigs trotters but just lateley she has been refusing the pigs trotters. Maybe she is just getting fussy. Up till now she has downed everything given and looking for more. I suppose with all the other titbits that they get at Xmas she is trying it on, to get something better. For breakfast, she normally has a pack of minced beef or lamb, tripe,hearts or liver with veggies. Her poops are extremely firm, so maybe reducing the RMB's might be beneficial. She has been spayed so not season time. She is sulking at the moment as my husband has gone back to work and she adores him.

Just an update. I reduced her Rmb's last night and she ate her breaky this morning no problem. Thanks all.
