Ah so it's that time of the year again when one's thoughts turn from the winter weather to one's holidays.  I've just been having a look on the internet for Dog Friendly (more than one dog) Accommodation.  This will be the first year we've had to take our dogs into consideration when deciding on where to go for our holidays and I would be interested to hear if anyone knows of accomodation and holiday destinations that would be fun for the us and for the dogs and won't need me to remortgage our house in order to pay for it!!!

hoseasons do dog friendly holidays i have been on a caravan one and it was quite cheap for when we went in august, not sure about the price of cottages but it think they are a maximum of 2 dogs. if you were interested in a caravan holiday haven also allow 2 dogs and they are even cheaper. i have booked a weeks holiday with haven for the end of may and it has cost just over £250 including taking our 2 dogs.

hi vkblue how many people was that for ? do they allow 3 dogs ? does it depend on the breed ? as i have 3 bullmastiffs

it was for a 6 birth caravan they say a maximum of 2 dogs but i think they would allow 3 small dogs, i am hoping to get another dog in a month or so and that will be 3 for me so i will have to phone them to find out, but they never ask to see your dogs so i think you could get away with sneaking 1 extra small dog along.

i booked my dog friendly cottage through hidays. The 'who', 'when', 'where' bits allow you to state how many dogs, people etc, and then the search is narrowed down depending on what you've chosen.

Thanks for the link Nicola, I was amazed to find that Hidays are just up the road from me and I didn't know about them! 

It's my new years resolution to visit more places this year and I am going to start with Derbyshire and Church Stretton in Shropshire.

We went to a lovely dog friendly village in Yorkshire called Grassington last year - the cottage was adequately dog-friendly, and the village was wonderful! :-)

Hi We visit a holiday village in Aberdovey, Wales. The walks and scenery are fantastic. The place is called Hillside Holiday Village it is very quiet but we love it. We found it through Your Dog magazine. They have adverts for dog friendly holiday places. Hope you find somewhere and have a great time.

I have to say i have always found Cornwall to be one of the most dog friendly places, plus it's absolutely beautiful.

Slightly off topic, do people find it matters how many dogs you have? Last time I searched, the cottages were either for 1 dog only, or they didn't mind (within reason!) how many. We had no trouble finding a place that took 3 small dogs, but my OH reckons we would have trouble if he let me have a 4th dog! I think most places that accept 3 will be fine with 4. :-)

When we looking at going to wales it was normally 1 or 2 dogs at the most, but i don't know what other places were like. We went to Woolecombe  last september with the inlaws, we left Tyler with my sister, but when we got there, there were dogs everywhere, loads of dogs in the holiday apartments we stayed in, designated beaches, dogs in the pubs and all sorts, i was really upset we hadn't taken the time to find out, we just assumed it would be a problem, never again we will definately be taking him this year.

Have managed four adults and six dogs at two separate self-catering places (one Cornwall, one Northumbria).  Most seem to have a max of two :-(  ..... dogs that is!
Will be trying to find somewhere to cope with SEVEN dogs later this year.....god help us!!!

Thanks for the responses.  Plenty of places for us to choose from.  We are thinking about going to Devon/Cornwall or maybe 'up North' to Cumbria/the Borders or even to Scotland.  We should be able to find something suitable from the websites given...Cheers
