Dear All,
We have a ten month old pug who spins and barks until he is dizzy when he is happy or if he can't have his own way! This is a poblem as he keeps banging into furniture and hurting himself.
we have tried to stop him by holding him, offering distractions ,putting him in his crate, ignoring him.the list is endless.
the vet said it is a trait of pugs and offered no advice but has anyone got any tips for me.
Thankyou,
Bonalba

Id be tempted to use a water spray and see if this interrupts it, if not water then something that will make a noise to distract from it, a whistle maybe ?
That's strange isn't it your vet saying it's a trait of pugs

, dont know alot about pugs but has he been wormed? If he has your best bet would be trying to distract him or tiring him out mentally. I'd rule all health problems out aswell though, maybe someone who knows alot about pugs or this condition can help you better. Good luck
Warm regards Susan

it is a trait of pugs my ex had a pug and he used to do it he would just go mental especially if food was around.
I saw this in a collie we met at the park, he started to do the same thing when tyler was anywhere near. I thought he was scared so we left.

Can just be sheer excitement :) My oldest does it only when I am changing, after work, to take the dogs for a walk - no other time, not before any other walks :D Strange :D

Pomeranian's also do this. Maybe it's their way of being noticed with them being so small :d :d
I've see dogs doing it on you've been framed, but i've never came across a dog near me doing it.
Warm regards Susan
my little girls childminder has a pug who does this same thing, he does it when he is really excited, he also does it when he sees aeroplanes in the sky, he runs in circles until he's giddy!!
