excuse me everyone but i just wanted to pass on my good news after 2 missed matings my girl is having puppies this was her last chance and i had made up my mind that if she had no luck this time i would have her spayed. I've been dreading going for the scan but when i saw those little beating hearts i knew these last two years have been worth it.

Hooray, keep us updated on the puppies when they arrive! :-)
- By marydoll [gb] Date 30.11.05 19:17 UTC
thanks everyone for your kind replies, she is on day 35 now and already filling out around the tummy. When she was scanned the vet thought he saw 3 poss 4 puppies so i'm finding myself jotting down names for the K.C. that pop in to my head instead of thinking about who's getting what for christmas LOL.
She is due to whelp 28/12 so fingers crossed she doesn't start early or christmas will be out of the question.

Congratulations :-)  I can imagine how excited you must be feeling :-)  I took my Bitch to be mated almost two weeks ago (two weeks on Sat) and like you I'm hoping it's third time lucky for us too- I've decided that if it hasn't happened this time then I'm not going to try anymore either.  Fingers crossed!

Congratulations :) I must admit to giving up after 2 failed attempts, but there were other circumstances that made me sure my bitch would not conceive again. Hope everything goes ok for you.
- By marydoll [gb] Date 01.12.05 14:28 UTC
i'll keep my fingers crossed Kash,
Lindylou i think my luck changed with changing stud dog, she was mated twice to the same dog and both failed (had blood tests done second time to make sure she was ready).changed stud dog and was mated on the same day's as last time and now she is in pup.

My problem was that she had needed a caesarian the first time round. One of the pups had got stuck across the birth canal and couldn't come out naturally  The vets EVENTUALLY told me that the scarring was PROBABLY stopping her from conceiving again. I didn't push it. I had a lovely boy from that litter that I kept and now have a young bitch that, hopefully, will be the right 'friend' for him when she is old enough. I waited a year for her, so she'd better be!!! ;)

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. :D

I have some heartbreaking news my girl showed signs of dark discharge on wednesday so i whipped her to the vet after a scan and internal was told that everything should be alright but then late yesterday her temp dropped and she started showing signs of first stage labour (only day 57) and then sadly she gave birth to a dead puppy early this morning.  i took her straight to the vet and while there she gave birth to another tiny dead puppy by then i was devastated so asked my vet to section her and try and save the other pups, he didnt hold up much hope with her whelping early but out of my tears came joy with 2 pups they arent out of the woods yet but are home with mum and are latching on well so i'm praying that they make it.

- By marydoll [gb] Date 24.12.05 08:31 UTC
thanks everyone for their kind thoughts, mum is doing well and the puppies have made it through the first night, i've  been helping them with a little col-late (puppy colostrum) as mums was not ready, it started coming in late last night just remembering to stimulate all her teats to increase her milk supply and checking pups are not becoming dehydrated and they are warm but mum not too hot.
Ps i know what i would like from santa!! 2 match sticks please, no seriously the lack of sleep will be worth it if i can just get these 2 little darling through it.
wishing everyone a merry christmas hugs and kisses Marydoll

Hi,
Just read this - did the pups make it?
- By marydoll [gb] Date 30.12.05 13:28 UTC
Hi sarah,
i've not had time to up date everyone but the news is good the 2 puppies have more than doubled their birth weight and now look like 2 fat slugs they are a week old today, mum was at the vet on wednesday for a check up and the vet is pleased no sign of infection and the scar is healing well she has to go back next week to get stitches out.
Still on tender hooks but i get more confindent each day when i get them on the scales and see their weight going up, mum is no longer getting lifted out the whelping box to go to the garden she will get out by herself but it's out quick then straight back to her puppies.
As everyone knows that have breed puppies they are such time wasters i can just watch them for hours and at this stage the do nothing but crawl over the whelping box, i'm in puppy heaven when they get to the playing stage and you see the characteristics coming out in them.
