Hi

Can anyone out there tell me if they've experienced their bitch losing hair after having pups   Phoebe's pups are now 7 weeks and 2 days old and for the last week Phoebe's hair along her side is thining - could this be due to the stress of me removing the pups form her now and me not allowing her to feed them (instructions from my vet).  The pups are all fine and will be off to their new homes this week :-( my vet doesn't open again until tomorrow should I take her along with pups as they're booked in for their jabs.

Thank you

Yes, throwing the coat is normal after raising a litter.

Loki actually waited until the day after I sent off her entry to Crufts (last possible minute) when her puppies were 2 months & 1 day - before literally taking off her coat and her underwear:eek: !

Tilly lost alot of her coat after her litter, like you I was concerned but my vet assured me it is quite normal due to hormoan changes. Tilly had quite afew bald patches but her coat grew quickly back once the pups had left and her life got back to normal with no more feeding

Thank you to everyone who replied I was a little concerned as she never lost any hair with her last litter; I guess dogs are a bit like us women when we've just had a baby, mine was falling out by the handful :-)  :-)

Thank you again
Jac and balding Phoebe
