hi all two of my vizsla girls (smooth) are currently changing thier coats and are looking a little patchy, they are fed on a mix of proplan lamb and rice and arden grange performance, both are nicely upto weight and fit. I s there a product i can add to there food to put more of a shine on there coat?
ive tried cod liveroil in the past but they dont like it!

If you groom out the dead coat and then give them a rub over with a damp flannel or small towel then chamois leather then dry towel, this will make them look better in the short term. Once the dead coat has gone and the new one grown in they will look much better

I give my dogs seaweed powder. It really helps to shine up the coat. It is fast and very affective.
My dogs like it for some reason, maybe because it has a fishy tatse. I order my seaweed powder from www.hubint.com. This company  has lots of other things you need aswell.

Sardines in a tin with sunflower oil ( I think ) makes my boys coat sparkle! I give him them twice a week and boy he loves them!

Yes dogs to tend to love fish! my dogs go crazy when they smell fish even being cooked!:rolleyes:. Maybe you should try seaweed powder and tinned sardines. See which one they like best. The thing about tinned sardines is it contains a large amount of salt which isn't really good for anyone. But i think it is the oil in the fish which gives them that glossy shine to their coat. So try boiling some fish for your dogs. Cod is a good fish to give them. Also natural Herbal tablets like garlic tablets also help alot.

I have an HPR breed too but mine are longish haired.   The only problem with seaweed - you cannot give it once the weather heats up as it has overheating properties itself.    I have found royal jelly for helping to bring the coat in, Quistel shampoo and Salmopet (Salmon Oil) as a food additive have really helped my dogs at some point during their lives, show careers etc.

I use Salmopet for a nice shine to my girls coats. It's also very good for treating dry skin on paws.

yes i actually forgot to say that seaweed can only be use during colder seasons:rolleyes:

I've used "Hypercoat" with great success.  Good for stopping the scratch/itch/scratch cycle too.

I use restore from doghealth for my beardie girls coats..superb!

A cracked raw egg over their food 2-3 times per week does wonders for their coat :)
