Hi,

I wonder if anyone could tell me if this is normal or not please.

Pups are now 4 days old and are doing well - gaining weight nicely.  Mum is very attentive and is stimulating and cleaning them well BUT there is poo always smeared over the vetbed.  Does this mean that it is more than she can manage, and I should be helping?  Or is this normal?

This is my first litter (and hers) so I am not sure.  I know from kittens I have bred in the past that there is no mess, so I am concerned that Mum is maybe not coping with the amount of poo?

Thanks in advance.

Jayne.

OK, thanks for the reply.  I will have to live with it then!  That's fine - was just a bit worried, in case she was losing interest already!!

some pups can poo by themselves as soon as they are born, some dont need stimulation. i would say she is just not noticing as soon as they do it, or she is asleep when they do
