I hope this isn't going to put anyone off their breakfast, but, my bitch, who as people probably know by know had a litter of 7 pups 5 weeks ago and still insists on cleaning up after them. When we're around, obviously we clear up after the pups ourselves and stop willow doing this. However, this morning we came downstairs to find 3 huge piles of projectile poo vomit as she had eaten too much of the pups poo in the night. Willow sat on the sofa looking very sorry for herself. Question is, how do we stop her? Should we keep her out of the same room as the pups at night time in case she does this again?

We started weaning the pups over 2 weeks ago and I've not seen willow feed them for any length of time. If she pops into the pen - they'll try and grab a teat for a quick top up - little devils that they are. They are in a pen in the lounge, so should I lock her out of the lounge at night time? To me, this seems unfair to keep her away from the pups but I don't want her to be "unwell" again.

well the thing is they dont really need her if they are on solids and they have each other to keep company maybe just for a few nights and let her back in after you have cleaned in the morning if it is making her sick u should definetly stop her my girl was only just allowed back in with her pups after i had to wean pups early with no mum feedsat all and when she went back in she wasnt slightly interested when one pooed so mabe some seperation will help

Hi I think it's time for them to be seperated now! They don't in any sense NEED mom there, and really mom needs her rest and to stop the risk of re-infection with worms etc, she should be kept from clearing up after them! All the best, Dawn
