:rolleyes:Sorry to sound thick!

Not at all thick, it's only been around a couple of years and is an award you get at open shows, so lots of pros haven't heard of it. It stands for Show Certificate of Merit. Basically you get points for Best of Breed and Group placings (1 point for BOB, 1 for Group 4, 2 for Group 3 and so on), and Best and RBIS awards, at open shows only, and when you get 25 points you send a form off to the KC and they send a certificate, and you put ShCM after your dog's name. We've got one, hooray! :-)

Thanx!

I have been showing for 3yrs & I have seen it after a couple of dogs names but not sure what it ment!

My mum had not heard of it either & she has been showing for yrs (not for a while though)

I have heard of the junior warrent (Not got one yet - never been able to go to enough shows!)

When do the points for the ShCM start from? Is it from any age of dog & any year or is it from when the ShCM came about?  I may have a couple of points allready!!

Only from when it was introduced.  Also you get a point for Best AVNSC in your Group if on group system, or BAVNSC if not on group system, so you don't need breed classes.

A minimum of five points have to be won by getting placed in the group so it can't be won by dogs getting BOB of one at 25 shows, so not an easy award at all.

It is like an Open show Champion, (but wins at champ shows without CCs don't count).

The fastest way to get the awrd woudl be to win Best in Show, and the group at two shows, and then the group at another.

I didn't think you got points for RBIS only BIS and group placing as well as BOB. I can't see anything on the kennel club form either. Have I got an out of date copy or is this still the case?
Also do the points add up, so for instance bob equals one point. Group 1 is four points so you would get 5 points from that show?

You are correct RBIS (unless it is a group show where in effect it is Group 2nd) doesn't get you any points.

The points add up, so if you got BOB, then the Group then BIS you would get 10 points for that show.

Ah, I didn't realise you didn't get points for RBIS, never having been in that happy position! :-)

Hi all and Merry Xmas,
Do wins in puppy classes count toward Show Certificate of merit or is it only adult classes and 2ndly does there have to be so many in class for points to count?
- By Brainless [gb] Date 17.12.05 12:57 UTC
Only BOB'and places in ADULT group competition count, so if your pup wins BOB (as mine has done) then the wins count, but the group placings have to be in the group properand Best in show, not Puppy Group or Best Puppy in show.

And no, there's no rules on how many in the competition, so you could get BOB out of 1 and Group 4 out of 4 if that's all there were at the show! Not much fun like that though! :-)

The chances of finding 20 shows where a dog is the only exhibit, and then five more where there are only four for the group is very unlikely.

My champion has only 13 points so far as we only do about half a dozen to 10 Opens or Champ shows without CCs a year, and the Non CC champ shows (I do 3 or 4 of those) don't count.
