Hi all,
Just wanted to share my experience of a shock i received after our park outing.
We had a lovely time in the park and drew up outside house as normal.
I opened the door and was about to get out when this dog appeared from nowhere and flew into the car and attacked my dog.
It took me all my strenghth to push this dog out of the car as it was intent on causing damage and it didnt know wether i had a dog or bitch, just wanted to fight.
In pushing it out my inner thighs were scratched badly as it was scrabbling to get back in.
As usual no collar, but as there are several of this breed in our area i thought it may be local.
I had to wait for passerby to get dogs attention before i could get my dog in the house, who by now was a gibbering wreck, but thankfully unharmed[not so my legs]
After  we went in,my son called me to tell me it was going bullistic at someone elses door, after their dog.
To cut a long story short it belongs to someone in the road who said it was hers and proceeded to whistle it.
Needless to say it didnt come so she said ...Suit your F.......g self and went in.
I was so worried that it would kill a smaller dog and called the police who said they would send car round.[dont make me laugh],as it was out of dog warden hours.
She still doesnt seem bothered and i heard it has been taken to the police station.
Im not telling her where it is,if she wants it she can trace it and pay her fines.
Ok Ok rant over, but some people.....

You did the right thing Jonelle, I'd have done the same for sure.

My word what a horrid experience for you.  Are you ok?  Is your dog ok?

Some people honestly just are not fit to have or own anything!  Do they think that their behaviour is acceptable?? It just amazes me how people can live like that.

What was the dog by the way?

Hi Labmad,
I wasnt going to name the breed cos i know in general they are lovely but as with all breeds in the wrong hands can be bad,as in this case.
It was a staffy[dont shoot me down all staffy owners please].
Unfortunately she has another one,but she hasnt even been out looking for the one that attacked us.
How callous is that for someone that should love her dog.
I would be going insane.
I spoke to another neighbour who had been too afraid to get out of her car cos it wouldnt go away.
My dog is ok,but each encounter like this just makes him more dog wary.
Im just glad my old girl wasnt with me on that occasion.
You should see my legs, talk about black and blue.
Good job ive plenty of padding[grin]

I don't think anyone with a Staffy will shoot you down, the problem is the country seem to have gone Staffy mad, they are everywhere you look, and loads of Staffy crosses too, so because they are so popular this breed are bound to be caught up in more fracases because they are so common now.

Another irresponsible owner, who shouldn't be allowed a hamster let alone a dog!!

You did the absolutel correct thing.  So glad it did not get to your dog, but wish your leg better. :-)  Hopefully the dog will not be coming back, and find it's way to a responsible owner. (Who obviously needs to re-train and socialise it.)

:eek:I hope you are ok.Is it just me or has there been a spate of dogs attacking? There seems to be an awful lot of reports on the forum about dogs fighting? So sad that people dont socialize their pets now,if they did im sure that it wouldnt be this way. :(

I agree, there are a lot of attack stories going on, too many people buying pups with no skills to bring them up, they think that they train themselves!!  And when they don't they send them on their way. Too many people breeding who shouldn't be, and not passing on information and training skills to new owners of the pups, the responsible people are on sites like this one and completely helpless to do anything.

Thats the reason im glad i dont breed,i would be too stressed and worried about what the pups were up to and if they were being looked after properly. :(

The sad thing is, that the dog would probably have been ok if it had been bought upo properly and trained, loved etc! The dog at the end of the day is going to pay the price by being PTS:rolleyes::mad:

Meant to add hope you and your dog are ok and not too traumatized and sore!?

we have staffys and nothing makes me more mad than people who arent sensible owners

How awful, hope you and your dog have recovered. Definitely you did the right thing in getting the dog taken away - if it's owner let's it run around loose attacking other dogs, and doesn't care about getting it back in the house, she doesn't deserve to have a dog. :-(
