Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Ringcraft in London SW + is it too late to start
- By supervizsla Date 14.12.05 15:16 UTC
hi does anyone know of any ringcraft classes in london? preferably the SW of london
also it is probably a silly question but my dog is now nearly 2 is it too late to start to show her? we have had to get over a few socialisation problems so couldnt start straight away. everyone says she is a brilliant vizsla and i thought classes would increase her confidence around dogs as well.
thanks for any replies

I'm sorry i'm not in London but i found the number of our local canine society and called them to ask if they knew of one which usually most run one.

Check this link it gives many clubs numbers http://www.bestofbreeds.com/clubcorner/dogs/gencanineatoc.htm

As for going along with your girl i only started showing in June this year when my girl was actually 2yrs 2months! due to similar reasons to you and we have done pretty ok and qualified for crufts at the LKA last week (so we must be doing something right :D )

Good luck.

I also didn't start showing one of my HVs til she was 2, at her very first show she was BOB and continued to do very well over the next few months. She's had  break over the summer while I concentrated on my wire puppy but she'll be back out this winter, she was brill at ringcraft, which surprised me, and absolutely loves being in the ring, a real show girl :D
Good luck with your mad Hungarian..can i be nosey and ask who bred her?
Emily :)

thanks for the reply - well done with your two.
delia cottee bred her, she has the most gorgeous temperament with people, but gets very nervous around other dogs. i do think that was my problem tho cos i was not as maticulous at socialising her as my older mongrel (3 yrs old). i accept that her problems with dogs is mostly my fault (which is hard to say mind as i love her to bits and wish i could do it all again) but she is much better know and has lots of doggie friends in the park.
thanks again
Anna
ps she is only my second dog so it has taught me alot and i have a huge amount of time ahead of me get it right with the next ones!!!
