Which MILK???

What are your views ???

Lamblac or Milkivit are protien packed,  remarkably cheaper  e.g.  5kg's  for 11.95.  Are they just as good,  as some vets say that Lactol/whelpi  arent as good??
Is it all personal opinion????

What are your views and expereinces/results using which???

Regards Mabs

I have only ever used Lactol and not had any problems with it.  Mine aren't on it very long though a matter of days or a week or two just to learn to lap and then added to their puree complete for a while until I replace with just water.  Never had to bottle rear though.

When I had to hand rear a litter Christmas 2004, I used Litterlac, the pups did really well on it and my vet said it was better than Welpi.

The litter I hand reared got Esbilac.

I would only use a milk formulated specifically for puppies.  My own favourites are Nutrolac (sold by Animal Health) and made out of Goats Milk, and Litterlac (made of the usual Cows Milk) and sold through Champion foods.

Mine get milk right up to 8 weeks, and neither of those makes them loose.  Have used Skinners Puppy Milk, but found they got a bit loose by 6 weeks. Lactol I found tended to Mix lumpy and is ver dear.

I would guess that Lamblac is maybe for baby sheep?    Like Brainless I only use milk substitutes formulated for puppies.  I prefer Whelpi to Lactol.

Be interested to know if anyone has used the Royal Canin milk?   A friend with cats used the kitten milk on two kittens she had to handrear and said it was so much better than Cimicat.

Esbilac is very good.  It is ready mixed also.

Personally would only use stuff that comes highly recommend by many people and  also only for puppies.

I have always used Lactol and still have a tin in the cupboard.I must admit though,it isnt for puppies as i am not a breeder. :) Last time i needed it was for a chinchilla kit that i was hand rearing.Ive also used it on kittens :)
