Poppy has developed a red rash on her chin area.  It looks quite red and sore and i have had a good look at it and it looks almost like sore excema.  I have contacted the vet and they have said that as she is due to have her booster in February - unless i am unduly concerned then they will have a look them.  However, in the meantime is there anything i can do re bathing/washing the area to cleanse it and help it heal.   I am watching her play with her kong and it doesnt seem to be bothering her at all.   Any advice.

How old is your dog? It sounds to me like acne. Dogs do get acne, it does clear up in time, just keep it clean, and if you think it is infected then go to the vet.

I'll second Polly on that one it does sound like acne.

OK Thanks.  I didnt realise that dogs get acne! - but will monitor and treat. 

my lab developed an area on her chin- we thought it was acne- but turned out to be due to eating her food- her chin was being rubbed in it! and the hair follicles were infected- it was red raw- hope this helps,,
