Hi, my 7mth schnauzer puppy florence ate poison from a mouse trap.. i noticed some green stuff on the floor that she was munchng on..then my friend realized what it was as it was from her shed?? i rang the vet and she told me to make her sick, which i did with salt water and she brought up alot of green stuff.. the vet said that she'd be ok and there's nothing else to do but i'm so worried that it didn't all come up?? does anyone know of any signs i should look out for.. im so worried about my baby..

Generally speaking most rat poisons are anti coagulants ie they prevent the blood from clotting to put it simply and the rats bleed to death. Symptoms in dogs is bleeding from the nose and other orifices and shock.
I am surprised that your vet did not recommend a Vitamin K injection.
she ate it on sunday..i will ring them again.. she said that if she sicked it up that would be the end of it. It would probably be too late if i started noticing those symptoms. she seems ok!! just eaten more of the kitchen lino..lol thanks

If she is still ok today I would say that you are fine..................

I would ask the vet to check her clotting factor after about 24 hours. I doubt she would have ingested enough to cause any real harm but I would rather be safe than sorry.

Just read you message about it being Sunday, I'm sure she is OK then. Certainly a dog to keep on eye on with her habits though :)
I have had a word with the vet again.. she said that she'll be ok.. just to keep an eye out if she starts bleeding anywhere.. so will keep an good eye on her. luckly she still loves me after the salt water?? i didn't know she could keep her teeth clenched that tightly??? lol. (poor dog) She got her own back, she ran upstairs and tiddled on the bathroom mat!!! thanks for your kind words. I'm sure it won't be the last thing she does she's a little tinker.
I would change vets, if I were you. Any vet which doesn't want to see a dog after it has been seen eating poison sounds a bit dodgy to me!!!

any poisons need to be seen by a vet immediatly because depending on how much the dog ate the affectscan be very quick and death can be within a couple of hours or less inducing vomit is good but its not always affective if the dog had been able to digest some already
