i bought a pet first aid kit from halfrods-it was £6.99 i think. It contains a bandage, antiseptic wipes, antiseptic spray, scissors, gauze pads, medical tape, sterile mask, apron and gloves, alcohol wipes for the owner, and comes in a nifty little plastic box. I've added some piriton to my box, and some more wipes and pads-because i've used mine up. I keep mine in the car, because if i'm at home, the car's with me, and if anything happends when i'm out with the dogs, nine times out of ten, we're out somewhere in the car, so its always there ready.

i found this on the pdsa webby about what it reckons a first aid kit should contain.....

Roll cotton - Some cotton balls - Gauze pads - Gauze tape - Hydrogen peroxide (check the expiration date) - Hydrocortisone ointment - Scissors - Eyewash - Silver nitrate - Tweezers - Oral syringes - Pediolyte® or other balanced electrolyte fluid - Baby food (meat flavors work best) - Large towel - Exam gloves - 1 inch white tape (in addition to gauze tape) - Rolls of elastic wrap - Emergency ice pack - Thermometer (both oral and rectal thermometers can be used rectally)

HTH :-)

Hiya,

Can I just add to that, a 'sticky' bandage (co-hesive) and most importantly of all, a muzzle (or something that can be used as one!

LoL.

do you mean 'Pedialyte'? (its an electrolyte rehydration solution)
Silver Nitrate used to be used to treat Gonorrhea :o :P (just BTW!)
H202 Hydrogen Dioxide is an Anti Bac.

Hydrogen peroxide is used for cleaning dirty wounds.  Silver nitrate staunches bleeding.  I don't think either of these are best played with by amateurs though :)

Hi, other suggestions would be:-
bottle of Bach Rescue Remedy, tube of arnica gel, tube of tea tree cream and tube of witch hazel gel.
all suitable for you and the dogs,
can't remember did anyone say tweezers?
