Just discovered tonight that some people do follow the good advice given about buying a pup, and in this instance I kind of which they had not!  Nice couple who bought a pup from me in the spring decided 2 weeks ago to get her a friend, and during a trip to visit parents in the South East they found an adorable black pup in London, and brought him home with them.  Unfortuantely, the original pup (now 10 months) simply will not accept the pup, she is miserable, naughty, and now dirtying in the house (as an expression of disgust, I think) finally, she has taken to actually bullying the pup.  Owners at wits end, and decided the only thing to do was part with the pup.  Guess, what, breeder wont take him back (wont even speak to them now!)  As a final straw they advertised the pup, found someone who sounded ideal, she visited, but rang tonight to say she had decided against him, as she had been advised only ever to buy from a breeder where she could see pup with Mum.  Of course, this is the correct, sensible advice we give here all the time.  However, I am in a quandary what to advise these people.the "right sort" of buyers are put off by the pup not being with the breeder, the sort who don't care are not the sort they want to sell to, catch 22, and what on earth do I suggest they should do?  Meanwhile, the original pup is getting more and more miserable, and the pup is sort of in limbo!  Any bright ideas anyone?

The only thing is that if you or any of the well known breeders have a waiting list of suitable people to pass onto the person.

Hi Gwen, I know this will sound like I'm trying to teach Granny to suck eggs but won't breed rescue help?

I am sure they would , but seems very unfair to put an extra burden on them, especially at this time of year.  We don't breed blacks, so I don't have anyone on my list wanting one!  He has now come to stay with me, until we can find him a home, this will give the other pug time to settle down and be happy again, and he is playing with my 2 pups happily (they are both fully vaccinated, so no problems there).  Have spent some time this morning ringing around breeders telling them about him, and hopefully we will find a nice new family for him, but have a feeling he will be with me over Christmas!

I just wanted to say how it's a breath of fresh air to find a caring breeder like yourself.... well done on helping these folks out. I brought my new baby home last Sunday(she's a Cavalier KC) and she's been very poorly ever since and the only advice the breeder could give me was to feed her rice. She hasn't even been bothered to enquire how she is so it looks like i'm back off to the vet my 3rd visit in a week. Sorry for the moan.

Hi Tilly, hope your Cav feels better soon, and hope the OP's friend's puppies get sorted out too. :-( I'm glad most breeders seem to be more responsible than that!

I bet he has a super Christmas.  I can just picture all those happy pug pups playing together :)  Good luck in finding him a final home I'm sure something will turn up.

Hi Isabel, he has been here about 5 or 6 hours now, and has settled in amazingly well :)  He wolfed down his lunch, has learned how to climb onto the sofa using Puglets footstool, and is running riot with Daisy and Roxy, the pups.  They are American Cockers, by the way, but he does not seem at all phased by that!  He was a little surprised at the cat, but seems to take everything in his stride.  People have always told me Black and Fawn pugs have completley different natures,  but only having had Fawns this is my first chance to see it first hand!
