We have recently got a golden retriever puppy from a rehoming centre who is about 14 weeks old. We know he is a pedigree puppy as the rehoming centre was offered his papers by the then owner but didn't take them as they didnt want him being fostered just because he was a pedigree puppy. We would be interested to know what his parentage is to know about any health issues with hips, eyes etc.
He was originally sold to people in Thanet Kent and is believed to have been born on or around August 29th 2005. He has a very light coat and a gentle temperament.
If anyone thinks they may have bred him I would love to hear from you. He is a family pet and, in line with the Dogs Trust rules , will be neutered in April so our interest in his pedigree is purely for information.
Thank you. Liz

Hi Liz
To be honest he is most likely to have been bred by somebody NOT responsible, as at such a young age any responsible breeder would have taken the pup back should things not have worked out with the new owners. Sadly there are so many Goldens bred by people just trying to make money, so my guess is it would be virtullay impossible to find out who bred him.

In fairness, somebody responsible can only have taken him back if they were given the opportunity, so although you're probably right it's worth a try just in case some poor breeder isn't aware their baby has been passed on.

Not necessarily true :) We recently experienced someone at our training club who bought a puppy (she has two other dogs) and within a week, for an unknown reason, passed the puppy on to someone else with great speed :( She wouldn't go back to the breeder or hand over the papers :( It was only because someone remembered vaguely who the breeder had been ( a responsible, respected breeder), that the new owners were able to contact him and get his approval of the new home and, through him, some replacement papers.

Thank you for your reply - as I said the interest in his lineage is purely for interest concerning his health etc. He is a wonderful dog very quick to learn and eager to please. Indoors he already sits, stays, lies down and comes when called and asks to go out into the garden when needed, all on a fairly reliable basis. Outdoors the recall is more on a "when I'm ready" basis but for such a young pup and us being his fourth home he has made remarkable progress.
