Im told you count the first day of blood show, and you should mate on the 12th day up to the 15th day, is this correct.

In theory ... but bitches haven't read the books! ;) My last litter was from matings on days 18 and 20, because she wouldn't stand before.

it's a good idea to get your bitch pre mate tested by your vet, from about day seven of her season go to your vet and he will take blood from her and send it to a lab which they will then check her progesterone levels and this is a great indication of when your bitch will be ready.

hi juliecarole my bitch came into season and i thought she would be ready between the 12th and 14th dat but would not stand which made me think i had a dog that was not ever going to stand and she wasnt ready until the 21st day and remained ready for 3 to 4 days so theres plenty of time yet

I had a bitch who we tried for 3 seasons to have a litter form her, in the end the person I took her back to, to be mated was her breeder and she said to try her on day 5, low and behold it worked 9 weeks later she had a litter of 3, I had been trying her on the 10th day on wards with no luck, she was mating but no puppies so I was obviously taking her on the wrong days.

She's a small breed so this size litter was good lol.
