Hello
I have a 9 month old brown Dobermann (male)
In the last couple of months I noticed a few bumps/spots coming up under his neck, along the back of his neck and some along his back. Now it's got slightly worse and all along his back the fur is thinning right out. He is up to date with his flea treatment so I can't work out what it is. I thought I'd ask for a bit of advice on here before I pop him along to the vets.
I give him one Evening Primrose Oil/Starflower Oil capsule and one  Vitamin C tablet every other day.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

All i can say is take him the vet, it could be an allergic reaction or thyroid but your only really going to get a diagnosis from your vet, so get him the vet asap.  Good luck with him.

Warm regards Susan

Hi Dobie 1
I haven't took my dog to the vet as yet but contacted his breeder and was told they thought it was he's age as their brown had the same problem at roughly the same age.
I have started giving him 1 fish oil capsule and a vitamin E capsule daily. It's a bit too soon to notice any difference but will let you know if and when I see anything.
Is your Dob a brown also?

Hi, just wondering what happened with your dobies skin problem.  My doberman is losing the fur round her eyes.  I took her to the vets and he tested her for mange, which was negative.  He has now given capsules with fish oils which I give her 3 times a day.  I have a feeling he isn't sure what else it could be if the capsules don't work.  I feel so sorry for my dobie it makes her eyes look sad.

Hi
My boy is only 10 months.
My last brown bitch always had problems with her coat mainly on the lower part of her back ..she was constantly at the vets but nothing ever really helped it. Now on speaking to a few breeders they have said it was more than likely a hormone problem which the vet hadn't picked up.
I didn't have any probs at all with my black male.
My breeder told me to use 'Malaseb' antibacterial & antifungal shampoo on my boy. I do have some but want to see if the fish oil tabs will make any difference first otherwise I won't know which was the one to help. My boy looked like he was going a bit thin along the bridge of his nose..the fur just looked so flat so I started masaging in 'Aloe Vera gel' about 3 times a day and it's looking alot better now.

I think I will have to give the Aloe Vera gel a go.
