Just wondered if anyone thats was having problems getting hold of Nature diet is still having this same problem or if their suppliers are back to normal now,I was lucky and managed to get a reasonable amount of it in but i am now starting to run a bit low and none of my usual places have any.(That'll teach me for being all smug !! lol )

Not been able to get reliable supplies here in MK either - so I've taken the opportunity to try Autarky instead seeing as the budget needed reassesing anyway.......  I wonder how many others will move away from ND?

Still the same problems here.
Some of my customers are waiting to get their normal order.
If this goes on I will lose customers too!

Emailed them, but never got a reply. :-(

I've had the same problem here in West Yorkshire.  I rely on it as my dog has colitis and dare not feed him anything else in case of a flare up.  To my relief my pet shop has just rung today to say my last order has arrived, so at least we should be ok till after the new year.  What exactly has the problem been, I think my pet shop would be interested to find out, as he has just recently statred stocking some of it, but now has problems getting it!

All fine it Pets at Home now although still abit slow coming in (and going fast)

ND's premisies was moving so I guess things went wrong during the move.

I spoke to staff in my local Jollyes today - they had limited stocks of Lite and Puppy and that was all - and they'd had to buy that from a wholesaler!
- By Stacey [gb] Date 08.12.05 09:18 UTC
My Pets at Home is now very very low in stock and out of all the regular packs, they only have puppy and Sensitive.

With a company as small as Naturediet, this could well put them out of business, unfortunately.

I used to use Naturediet, and I ordered direct from them. Are those of you that do that also having problems? What does Amelie thingybob (customer services rep) have to say about it?

The Facts About Naturediet

We have been advised by several of our customers that there are numerous postings regarding Naturediet on this forum.  Many of the posting are misconceptions of what is exactly happening at the Company and therefore this posting will set the records straight.

We still have our facility running in Chiddingfold, Surrey and have not made all our staff redundant.  In fact the staff from Chiddingfold will be relocating to Shipdham Norfolk as soon as we close the factory.  Contrary to the rumours going around the marketplace, probably from our competitors, the factory has not burnt down.  We were forced into moving our factory due to the lack of assistance and approval of a new planning application to extend our facilities in Chiddingfold by the local council.

We did have some problems back in October which required the installation of a new boiler in Chiddingfold and the result of this was that we were unable to supply the market properly for one week.  We are now supplying the market but we are struggling to catch up on the "lost" week and the increase in the demand for our products.

Final commissioning is taking place at the new factory in Shipdham and we in fact started 24 hour running  last week.  The commissioning of a new "state of the art" facility has taken longer than we envisaged but we are still confident that this was the correct route to take.  Unfortunately with Christmas around the corner and only two weeks remaining, we will not be able to get into a full stock situation until the end of January 2006.

We are still supplying all of the wholesalers albeit that we are not able to fulfill their orders completely.  We are instead ensuring that product is distributed fairly in order that the wholesalers can keep their customers stocked with our product.

Our Customer Service, which is referred to as poor in several of the postings and excellent in others is endeavouring to keep everyone who calls us up to date with what is happening.  As we do not deal directly with pet shops we have to rely on our wholesalers to keep their customers, i.e. the petshops appraised of the situation.  Physically it would be impossible to call all of the pet shops as we are spending every hour of the day talking to customers who call us.

There are comments on the forum with regards to the new product, some like it some don't.  The new facility cooks the food in under 4 minutes in an aseptic environment reaching a temperature of 125 degrees.  This is the requirement set down by DEFRA under whom we are registered.  The result of the new cooking process is that there is far less damage to the product and higher retention of the enzymes normally destroyed by processing food.

The product does look a little different and we knew that this may result in our customers believing that we had changed the recipe.  We have not changed the recipe at all, the same ingredients are in the products as there has always been.  The product is now contained in a peelable pack, something we have been continuously asked for.

During the trials, which commenced in March 2005, of the new product we have had the food sent away repeatedly for analysis to ensure that it is still the same high quality as we have always produced.  Additionally all of the Naturediet dogs, including my own 2 irish terriers, have been fed exclusively on the new Naturediet to no ill effect.  The best way to test food really is to try it on the dogs who will eat it and who better than our two.  We also have asked several of our long term customers to feed their dogs and the results have been excellent.

I am available by email if anyone would like to ask any further questions and I will personally reply,

Dear All

We are the Pet Food suppliers and retail Nature Diet. As you are aware of the shortage of this product I will pass on the information we have recieved this week as of the 5/12/2005. There will be a limited release of Lamb and Chicken flavours but production will not be fully realised until the end of January!

I am quite disgusted with Nature Diet for not releasing any information into the Public domain. We have made several request to them which they have ignored and generally their communication has been sub-standard.
We have been offering Natures Menu as am alternative, but the cost is slightly higher.

I hope this gives you readers slightly more information I just wish Nature Diet would be more forthcoming
with thier comments.
Yours

P.Adams.

Thanks Admin.

I agree.  Not only are the factory problems potential disastrous for the business, but coupling that with the lack of communications and poor customer care is not only bad PR - but makes their business problems even worse as customers look to other alternatives.   Many may not return to Naturediet.

I've been trying to get nature diet too and was told that their factory had burned down and nobody seems to know when they will resume service again.  Can anyone recommend a similar alternative?

I have 2 boxes of ND Lite if anybody is interested in buying it :)
- By ShaynLola Date 10.12.05 21:20 UTC
There doesn't seem to be a problem here. I asked the owner of my local independant pet shop if he had problems getting it and he said no...had plenty on the shelves of all flavours. I noticed Pets at Home had plenty too when I was in earlier today
- By mollymoto [gb] Date 11.12.05 08:41 UTC
Our PAH run out for about 2 weeks but one about20 miles away had some so we stocked up. This wek there are now fully stocked so it does seem to be getting through. In the summer I contacted Naturesdiet and they said there had been a problem and they were reduced to prroducing only most popular  on a smaller scale for a while so maybe this problem has only just shown further down the chain. Well I hope you are all fully stocked now. If not see if they can get some for you from another branch. Peterborough and Huntingdon and Leicester have stock.

Hi All

My pet shop told me a few weeks ago that ND were moving premises and that the new site was a fair way away from the old one. Therefore, they made virtually all but a skeleton staff redundant in anticipation of moving. For whatever reasons the move has yet to take place and therefore they are producing whatever they can on this skeleton staff which as I understand it consists mostly of the management team!!!

The lady in the shop said that what is happening is that she (and others) are ordering their normal supplies, say 10 cases of chicken flave, and ND are then assessing what the geographical requirements are and if another pet store have ordered the same and ND can only supply 10 they are having to share and take 5 each. These in turn are selling very quickly for obvious reasons. They only seem to be making Lamb and Chicken Flave too.

Im not suprised that PAH have huge supplies as they will, im sure, be given priority over smaller shops as they are a greater source of income for ND.

I'm Loving the new 'easy peel' packaging on the packs coming from the new Norfolk plant!!!!
(is the 'Holistic certified' stamp new to?)

However! not sure about what seems to be the new formulation of the chicken and carrot, looks paler, smoother.. doesnt seem as juicy?

I feed my dog on Naturdiet lite, as he has colitis.  Since starting on Naturediet he hasn't been very windy at all, although over the last couple of weeks he seems to have quite a bit of wind.  The packs I have are still in the original packaging although there does sometimes appear to be a little fat around the edges of the meat, which I never noticed before.  Does anyone know if the formulation of this food has been changed at all, if so, I may need to start looking for an alternative as he so loud sometimes , he looks at me as if to say where the hell did that come from.
