I have noticed a lot of people suggesting Kongs to keep dogs amused and happy for hours..so i have sent a fun email to my mum ..Dear Granny... love from the Dino & Drishti.
In anticipation of "Granny" coming up with the goods...can i ask for lots of varied suggestions about what to put in them?
How about Peanut Butter, cream cheese or just butter. We have the Kong puppy paste which Flynn seems to like and add a few of his biscuits to it.

I have just done mine ready for the morning and they contain a mixture of chicken, ham, cheese, a little of thier complete food and natural bio yogurt.
They are now sitting in the freezer so they are nice and solid when I give them to them.

http://www.companyofanimals.co.uk/kongrecipe.phpJust fillling the kong with regular minced meat and freezing is good or yoghurt.
Beware that if you use a lot of stuffed kongs of the salt content they may be consuming particularly if you are using cheese spreads, peanut butter etc.

ok this may sound like a funny question but if you freeze a kong which has meat or poultry in it will it be bad for a dog to then eat it frozen! Or would it have defrosted from all the licking and be ok?

Hi Goat
I always freeze my kongs (well not mine, the dogs ;-)) and my dogs have always seemed ok with it, no dodgy tummies afterwards so i guess it is ok. If i fill them with mince i use raw mince and although they are not on a raw diet this doesn't upset them. My problem is (and i would love to know if anyone else has the same problem) is that when i invested in the kong i imagined my dogs happily licking away at the goodies inside for hours on end but the gsd has worked out that if he throws the kong really hard against the wall/floor then the contents spill out much quicker,so a packed large kong can be emptied in about 15 minutes or so - any ideas?????
Hi mich
yep same problem here too :) it didnt take kai long to work out if it wont come out licking then bounce it out.... LOL
I have found that things that are more paste like and sticky take the longest to get out ( ie cheese spread) and i always freeze them, otherwise they wouldnt even last 5 mins ;)
