Topic Dog Boards / Health / 4 yr poodle weight lose & heart murmour

I have a 4 yr old femal poodle mix. Adopted Princess 1 year ago. Previous owners did not take her to the vets for check up or shots. I of course took her and all was fine thankfully. I took to the vet last saturday and was told that she now has a heart murmour and has gone from 4.8 kg to 3.3 kg. Suggest cardio work up at a little over $1000.00 CAN., we can't afford the testing.
They gave her her annual shots and said to change her food to a more expensive brand (problem is she is picky and only likes cheap food and people food). Anyway she is generally a barfy dog a few times or so a week. She has not eaten since her shots , actually she has eaten about 3 oz. of dry food (solid gold)and I took her off the people food. I have had to steam clean my carpets 2 times since her shots even though she really hasn't eaten. I gave 2 baby cookies today as she was very sluggish and it seemed to perk her up. She then ate a couple of peices of her old food (kibbles and bits) and then barfed .  When I picked up her poo today from out side there was some blood in the snow. I thought she was in heat last month, but i could have been wrong. Not sure. Any idea's?

I'm afraid she does not sound like a very well dog at all at the moment and she really does need veterinary care to diagnose and treat her properly.  It's really impossible for people on a web site to do that for you.  Ideally you could do with a charity veterinary clinic that would take on your case otherwise are there any animal charities that would help you with the fees?

I haven't heard of any clinics, but now that you've mentioned it I'll llok on the net to see if there is anything available for me.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Also get the vet to do bloodwork and check for thyroid trouble as it can affect the heart
and weight loss/gain depending if it's over or under active.
