Well I am taking the plunge and booking an appointment to get Beano groomed and clipped again by someone else this time!!!!!!!
I have hurt my leg so am not able to stand for long periods so I cant do it and he is looking very hairy!!!
I have had a LONg conversation with this guy and told him the problem I had last time and he will be guided by what i want. He hasnt groomed a yank before but when I said about it he immediatly said they are groomed different to the English.
Unfortuantly around here there are very few yanks so no groomers that are experienced in them.
I will print out some pictures for him to see what Beano looks like when done properly and keep my fingers crossed. Wish me luck ;)

Whats the Matter Val?????
I will add i had a very long conversation with him where he did say everything to make me believe that even though he hasnt groomed one before he knows what he is doing and will do a better job than the last one that cut him like an English :( I wish i could do it myself but cause of my leg I cant :(

Its suprising that he has never groomed one before. Im sure it will be ok though :) They look beautiful when they are done :)

At least his willing to be guided by you and has admitted he hasn't done one before but knows they are different from an english cocker! :)  Let's hope he does a good job! :D

Well he has been.
His top notch isnt right and his tail isnt biut he has done a really good job on the rest :D And they only need reducing not growing!!!!!!! LOL
Will finish his top notch and tail. Take photos and the next time he is done will give Paul pictures. And i know he will do it the way I have showed him :D :D :D :D
So success :D
And only cost the same as the person that masacred him!!!!!
So am one happy bunny again seeing as he is looking more like a yank than a clipped dog!!!!!
Oh and Paul did say that he had taken on numerous Bichons that had gone to the groomers and come out all clipped off!!!!!!!!!!  So it wasnt just that the women didnt know the breed. it was that she does it to every dog :( :(

Yey that's good news.  We can't expect groomers to get it right first time on a new breed can you?  I don't know as I don't have high maintanaince breeds grooming wise and always do it myself! :)

I am passing on Juniors congrats to his little half brother Beano on a successful hairdo!  Glad you found a groomer who is willing to learn, and is not just a clip off/rip off merchant ;).  I have tiny Beano half sister here at the moment too, just 12 weeks old!  She is begining too look very pretty indeed.  She had a very thorough grooming session yesterday, having had only miny trimms up till now, and was a very good girl indeed.
Don't be afard to have a go at his Top Knot - use thinning scissors if you have them, chop in rith at the bottom to thin out, and then work "on the top" to reduce remeining stragglers.  Not the advised method for a show trip, but owrks very well on a pet trim, and gives a nice tidy top knot.
bye

Well done on finding someone who knows even partly how to do a Yankee! I had to travel quite a distance to find someone. I do him myself now - not very well, but well enough for a pet quality dog! I bought the Mike Gadsby video on how to do it, though I don't follow all the instructions, like clipping upwards on the throat which seems to give him clipper rash, and there's nothing I can do about the feet as he has no coat to trim into a round shape! :-)

Thanks Everyone. Well he looks a bit funny at the moment but am going to 'attack' him when i get chance with the thinning scissors and then take photos so he will be able to see next time :D
Beano has so much coat he could re hair another dog every time he he groomed and clipped ;) LOL
But i deffinatly am impressed and he is 100% improvemnet on last time!!!!!
awwwwwwwww a baby beano!!!!!!
He did disgrace himself tho :(
Had him done at mums(mobile grooming parlour) Grabbed him from home, took him straight from home to mums in van. Straight into groomers van. Then let him back into mums house. oooopppppssssss spot the mistake!!!!!!!!! Yep. you guessed. the carpet had to be cleaned :(

What colour is he? I could do with some buff hair for my coatless wonder!! :-D
- By Lea Date 06.12.05 21:01 UTC
Buff!!!!!!
You can have half of it if you want. ask Gwen, he has everyone elses share!!!!!!!!! Will arrange hair transplant asap.
Just looked at your pics.
you can have half his coat as long as you give me half your talent at camponology as by the looks of it you have probably mastered Cambridge where i have only been able to limp through a plain course ;)

Rocko babes ALL have great coats, and the girls rarely drop theirs.  The new baby is a darling, much paler in colour than Beano and Junior (who are very similar in colour) and at 12 weeks already has a great coat.  Sounds like you coudl have found a market for Canine Hair extensions Lea, with Beano as the hair donor;).

Lucy - the AMP video is quite useful, but since it was done we have had lots of ideas about how to do a better one.  Hoped to get a DVD done this year, but no time (as usual) so we hope to get one together next year - we have a venue which will be ideal, rough drafts of the "Script" but have to get Mike's time co-ordinated with a sufficient numbers of dogs coat growth!  If you are getting a rash on the throat sounds like your blades may be clipping too close, and as you are only doing a tirm for a pet, as long as you are happy with the effect clipping down, that is the important thing.

bye
Gwen
