Hi there,

About 5 years ago i saw an add in the western mail & echo newspaper for a cairn terrier pet only. I went to carmarthen and bought it. it was pet only because it had had an eye infection but i saw the vets letter saying that there would be no more problems. I would love to trace the family i bought her from as i would like to get another one. It was a welsh speaking family and they had 2 or 3 grown up sons. they lived on a farm and also bred other dogs. I know this is not much to go on but if you can help i will be very grateful.

Welcome to the forum Kirsten.

This is a very long shot but give the South Wales Cairn Terrier Club a ring. If you are very lucky your breeder may be a member. Contact Mrs.Creane on 01225 708992.

Good Luck

Leigh

Im sorry to be the bearer of bad news but have you considered the possibility that these people were puppy farmers? West Wales has a terrible reputation for puppy farming and the fact you didnt have papers and these people bred several different breeds screams 'puppy farm'! these unscrupulous people are known to advertise in national newspapers {such as the Echo and Western Mail}because unless you know about breeding or showing most people dont realise how important papers are and will quite happily hand over large sums of money for pet only 'pedigrees'. thats not to say mind you that puppy farmers dont have K.C. reg. pups. its one way for them to charge even more money for sometimes unhealthy stock {i.e eyes ,feet, stomach, fur infections}, not to mention hereditory illness or complaints.
And im not having a stab at the welsh either as i too am a breeder from S.Wales but i only rarely have litters and all my stock are registered, immunised{at least the first set of jabs}vet checked and insured before they leave me. i also vet thoroughly potential homes, have a written contract between myself and purchaser and i will take back any of my pups if they need to be rehomed and fully refund purchase price.
Sorry again if this is something you didnt want to hear!
Regards
Jessie of Snowallen Samoyeds
