Hi guys

I have a bitch which has just had a litter of pupies, how soon after would she be expected to be in season, would it just be her normal time or do they come soon or later then they where?

A bitch usually come in at the same time that she would have come in had she not had a litter.

Not by what my friends say - perhaps Cavaliers are unusual like that! They seem to go a year without one after having a litter quite frequently! :-)

My cavalier had a litter Oct last year, since then she comes into season every four and half months (had 3 seasons since her litter)

some dogs 6 motnhs after they went into season with whelp or not it always goes from the last season so if she just had pups around about another 4 months if she season's every 6 months some dogs do it every 8 and every 12 you have to know your own dog's season's which if you bred her hopefully she is over 2 so by now you should know i never mate again on the heat after a whelp i mate a year after a whelp its safer there is no proof of this but it has been known that some dogs have troubles if they whelp back to back

I have always found with my won bitches that if they have had pups then they come in season about a month later than they would have if not having had pups.  I usually find there is a longer delay if the bitch had a larger  litter.

ive never had that my bitch and all previous bitches come into season spot on when they should what do you breed? maybe in the different breeds they take more of a healing time but i never breed on the first season after whelp anyway

Nor do I but whereas my bitches normaly go 27 weeks between seasons or thereabouts, after thay ahve had a litter they usually go 30 or so.  I never breed on successive seasons, there is not need and it is agains our breeds code of ethics.  My girls have only ever had two or three litters in their lives, normally 14 to 36 months apart.
