I live off a dual carriageway. Every time I come into my street I indicate. And put on my brakes. So WHY don't road users pay any attention? I am just waiting for one of them to take my rear end off, or worse

It's as if they don't believe me that I am actually turning in.

One of these days........

My cottage in along a very narrow unmade up road which looks to many people as pedestrian only. I always have my heart in my mouth when turning right into it as people seem to find it hard to believe that you have not made a mistake and meant to indicate left  I have been lucky so far but my neighbour has twice been hit by disbelieving drivers scooting on and trying to overtake him
I have exactly the same problem - we live down a track off a dual carriageway (national speed limit). Everyone drives at 70+ mph and you have to slow down to 20 mph to take our turn. I indicate well ahead of time, slow down and put my hazards on and still get people sitting behind me, even when there are two completely free lanes next to us. Like yourself, it is as though they don't believe you that you are actually turning.
Have you considered asking the Council to put up road signs indicating a concealed entrance? Not that some motorists feel they need to observe them ;)
In my case the road isn't concealed. You can clearly see the road sign, the markers the council have put up AND the houses! We also have a speed camera just before the road. Maybe the idiots are trying not to get their photo taken ;) and not watching the road :D

has anyone tryed putting their hazards on? not that you should have to!
personally i get fed up with people NOT indicating!!!!!!! had someone pull out yesterday no indicators, luckily i wasnt going very fast
Linda we always had that problem with idiots doing that to us when the road was infront of the house. you were really taking your life into your hands to come in and out. We are lucky that they have moved the road well away from our house now so they can pick on someone else now!!
Nicky, I wish they would move the road, but don't think they will :D
It's fine when I have to come across the road, there is a bit we have to pull in to. But if I am just turning left the horrid "bleeps" just don't seem to pay attention. I have thought of putting my hazards on, but why should I? (Don't mean to sound arrogant ;) ) I sometimes wonder if the drivers have gone to sleep
I used to live near a road like that and got fed up with drivers trying to get in my boot. I used to put my hazards on instead of indicating and that worked very, very well, they backed off instantly. Maybe you should give it a go. HTH :)

I have a theory.
If all car manufacturers took the indicator facilities out of their cars tomorrow, the motorists would still swear they'd used their indicators in the event of a crash ;) No-one seems to use them on the roundabout near my home :( No-one gives way either - even when you're already on the darned roundabout, very scarey when a huge lorry is trying to drive straight thru you
