Hi There, I have a Shih Tzu who is a very fussy eater, after a long battle getting him to eat ...I tried him on Nature Diet, he ate it well, didn't have a change over problems ( I did mix with his old food) I introduced a friend to it, and her Tzu loves it.
On another discussion board.... a member has told my friend that the protein content is way too low (10%) and that her dry dog food ( Royal Canin) has 27% protein in it, surely this is simply because that the Canin is dry and if you were to calculate the level of protein in the same dry or wet weight it would be about the same, my poor friend is now worried sick that her boy is not getting enough protein. I told her I wouldn't change because I feel my little guy is doing well on Nature diet. Anyone have any opinions on protein content of wet and dry food.
Thanks
Lynn
Hi - To calculate the protein content of a wet food, there is some calculation which I can't remember, which has to be made to the wet food's percentage, to remove the moisture from it. You can't actually compare them until you've done this calculation and I am being no help because I don't remember what it is.
But suffice to say that Nature Diet is one of the best foods on the market and definitely has high enough protein - in fact I think you will find it's higher than most dry foods.

I have posted a link to two previous threads on the Guest post you made on the Visitor's Board. Both threads explain the difference in protein levels in wet and dry food and the calculation that onetwothree mentions is also detailed.
ND works out at
approximately 40% protein (varies according to flavour).
I agree with onetwothree in that Naturediet is one of the best commercial foods available. I have fed both my dogs on it in the past and they did extremely well on it. I mainly feed Raw now but they still get ND if we have to be away from home or whatever.
