Am looking for 2 puppies, having recently lost an 11 year old lady: Senna.

Great home in cheshire, loads of love on offer.

Any ideas?

best regards

I would strongly advise you not to get 2 puppies at the same time, especially when it would be a breed as active and full-on as a Weimaraner.

Two puppies brought up together will bond more to each other than they will to the human family.  As a result they will be harder to train and tearaways.

If you get 2 puppies at once, it is highly likely that you will not be able to cope and Weimaraner Rescue will find themselves with one or maybe 2 more Weimaraners to rehome.

Please don't do it.  If you do want 2 Weimaraners, get 1 for now, wait until it is at least 2 yrs old before you get the next one.  That way hopefully the first one will have bonded to you and will be mostly trained before you introduce the new puppy.

Please contact the breed club for information on reputable breeders with litters.  (Nb, they will most likely not agree to sell you 2 puppies anyway)

I kept 2 puppies from a litter, they are weimaraners and NEVER again.  As the previous person said get one and get it trained and once 18-24 months old then think about another one.

have you thought about a rescue weimaraner?  We have loads to rehome at the moment and experienced homes are thin on the ground.

If youare interested please feel free to contact me for any further details at kidmal.weimaraners@ntlworld.com

If you are looking for a weimaraner your first port of call should be either or both of the two national breed clubs, the Weimaraner Association and the Weimaraner Club of Great Britain.

Buying a puppy from a member of either club will ensure that you get one from a reputable breeder as their codes of ethics/conduct prevent bitches being mated prior to 2 years old or after 7, having more than 1 litter every 12 months and no more than 3 litters in the bitch's lifetime.

Members are encouraged to participate in the relevant health checks which for this breed would be Hip Dysplasia (breed average 13) and I would recommend that you only buy from stock that has satisfactory hip scores.

Members are also responsible for rehoming them.

Please do NOT get two weimaraners together, one is difficult enough to rear and most reputable breeders would not sell you two anyway because it is a recipe for disaster whether or not they are 2 bitches, 2 dogs or 1 of each sex. Being an independent breed they will have great fun ignoring you all together.

Get one and once this has been trained to a reasonable standard get another one, I would advise not getting on prior to the first one being at LEAST 18 months old if not older, they can go through a particularly tiresome teenage period.
