If she's that $%^&£$% stunning and such a wonderful mother, how come they're getting rid ?? I'm amazed they can do this after she's been so good to them, producing fabulous pups and saving them the cost of a ceasarian and the trouble of hand feeding them all :( :( some people just leave me reeling with disgust

thats how I got Barney, Rosie and Ebony nearly a year ago...A member on CD had noticed in their local rag an advert for 2 breeding bitches and stud for sale....estimated annual income £5000.00....so Off I trundled and returned with the 'rescues' All now very happy in their wonderful forever homes.....just recently had photos and Rosie is here with me at the moment on her mid-term hols until Sunday :D

Makes me sick!! A week after I'd bought my SBT pup his mum was in the paper. I was horrified and only wish I'd had the room to buy her too!
Sarah.

The reason we are so disgusted Lola Riley is because some people just use dogs for what they want and then throw them away afterwards. We are all dog lovers here and most of us whether breeders, showers or just pet lovers, would never dream of getting rid of our dogs after their uses were fullfilled. Most people on this site love our dogs as our children and to us it is totally disgusting to do these things. :-(
Apologies for my ignorance but what is an Amstaff? Have found some pics on the net, beautiful dogs, but all sites were foreign so not able to have a read up? Are they just American SBTs? Are they illegal? Sorry for so many questions but curiosity has got me now!! :)

Here in the UK they are more than likely Pitbulls (which of course are illegal), cross Staffies, but not American's! I've seen the real thing in Europe and they are really nice looking dogs, but they are not accepted in this country I believe.
The pedigree won't be worth the paper that it's written on and if they say they are registered then it will be with a
alternate registration system.

Please remove further false information made on 4/12/2005 by member name perrodeagua, thread titled 'unbeleivable', THIS IS LIBEL ONCE AGAIN BY YOUR SITE. WE DO NOT AND HAVE NEVER REGISTERED AMERICAN STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIERS
D.A.Winters. DLRC

Amstaff is short for 'American Staffordshire Bull Terrier' - which under the DDA is the show version of the pitbull terrier and is therefore banned. In fact in the US many are dual-registered as both breeds, proving that they are indeed one and the same.

Sadly I see this quite alot, some people sell their bitches once they cannot mate from them anymore.
In a way if people are like that then its a good job the poor animal is being rehomes, at least someone will love it and want it for companionship and not for ant other reason

Then there are people who get dogs & breed them asap for the money without any health checks etc at far too young an age & then claim it was all accidently It's so sad especially when some dogs are in their 2nd & third homes
There are loads of adverts like this and pitbulls/amstaffs etc are very popular again, it seems a lot of people are ignoring the DDA.
I've read loads of ads recently for 'AmStaffs' on the free ad websites, most saying 'red nose' (meaning no mask), which is in fact a major fault in AKC register American Staffordhire Terriers, but often seen in American Pit Bull Terriers.
Seems to me people are giving their dogs the name 'AmStaff' of 'American Staffs' to make them sound like a pedigree dog, when infact they are mongrels, most likely Pit Bull, American Bulldog, and Staffie crosses.
Also, people say American Staffordshire Terriers are banned in the UK under the DDA, however, Australia has the same DDA, banning Pit Bulls, Tosas etc.., and yet they allow pedigree AmStaffs, and register them.

I think you'll find that most people who refer to their dogs as 'red nose' mean their nose is red not black...nothing to do with muzzle colour. Not saying that thats what the AKC means but that is the way it is with most of these people who own so called 'amstaffs'.
A well known dog advertising site actually has a section for amstaffs...13 litters registered at the moment!!!!
Archer
Sorry your right Archer, but my point was that proper American Staffordshire Terriers should only have black noses, where as American Pit Bull Terriers can have a 'red nose'.
Has anyone heard of a pure, registered American Staffordshire Terrier being imported to the UK?
The point here is why do people cross breed their dogs, put fancy names to them, then sell them at extortionate prices?Always made me wonder why they do it AND get away with it too? :(

no they are not allowed
A red nose is seen as a fault in a Stafford (Well the ones in the uk anyway) it's often refered to as a 'Dudley' nose :)
