Hi, my girl is 35/37 days pregnant and over last couple of days she has (forgive my expression) an old ladies smell/fishy smell no discharge and she is happy in herself.  Is this normal?  This is the first time for me and I am a little concerned can anybody please give me some idea if this is normal or if I need to see the vet.  Thanks

i would see a vet at once- just in case but it sounds like impacted anal glands- they smell of fish and are easily emptied by a vet

Thankyou for such a quick reply.  I will get to the vet, they have shown me before how to do it but to be honest I think I would rather pay to have it done...yuk!  I am so shocked with my feelings with her it is as though she is my daughter having babies!  God help my human daughters when they start having babies...lol.  I have read the book of the bitches inside out over and over again but it doesnt stop me from being such a fussy grandmom of pubs to be.

Thankyou for your suggestion.  I did go to the vets and you was right the smell was the anal glands which did shock me as they had been done about 5 weeks ago.  I see somebody else questioned if the glands needed doing again as her dog was pregnant too.  Nice to have a nice smelling doggy once again.

Good luck with yours too!  I cant wait as I said earlier if this is how I am with my pooch then god help my girls when they grow up and if they have children.  LOL.
