As a new person in here, can anyone tell me if companion dog shows are seasonal?  it may sound daft but where i live in north wales, they stopped about a month or two ago.
many thanks.

They're generally a summer activity around here, because they're invariably held out of doors.

Hi Mimi,

welcome to the forum :)  Re CDS, most are held outdoors so it makes sense to have them in spring and through to late summer.  Occasionally they are advertised in the back of the dog press if you get either of the weekly papers (Our Dogs and Dog World) and I'm sure if you do a search on this site you'll find a link to a list of them.  You might get lucky and find some locally to you held in a sports centre or community hall etc.

Scotland hardly has any (well, truth be told, I never seem to know they're on!)

Regards, Teri

hi, thanx for your replies,   i have been going through every paper that i can get my hands on (with not much luck on dates or venues)  unfortunately i have got the 'bug' for doing such shows, and now feeling a little 'bored' at the weekends.  once again thank you .

Why not bite the bullet and try a Limited or Open show?  They'll be advertised in the dog press, lots on during the winter months!  Go on - test the water!  You'll enjoy it :)

Regards, Teri

i'd love to, but he is not kc registered, i brought him as a pet, or is there a way around this?

Hi Mimi,

no, apart from companion shows, other conformation events (i.e. beauty shows!) require KC reg :(   Perhaps you could get interested in some other doggie activity with him - agility, flyball etc - while the companion show season is quiet?

I'm sure some others on the board will have some suggestions for you or be able to advise what's on and where.  My lot are couch potatoes most of the time  and have only occasional outings to strut their stuff - mainly in warmer weather.

Sorry can't be much help, regards Teri :)
