I was talking to a heavily pregnant friend this morning and she was telling me she has a craving for pedigree chum mixer.

It got me thinking about the weird things I craved when pregnant.
With my daughter who is now 5 and a half(I get told off if I refer to her as just 5) I craved toothpaste and sponge.
I didn't actually eat the sponge but just chewed it and rubbed it on the inside of my mouth. My family and friends thought I was nuts. :D
With my son who is now 3 I craved banana sandwiches and jam and cheese sandwiches.OH used to go mad having to make them all the time as he thought it was disgusting. :D
Did any of you or your OH have any strange cravings during pregnancy?
my craving was for beefpaste with butterscotch angel delight, mmmmmmmmmm i loved it its weird isnt it ??
With my oldest daughter who is 15 an half, my craveings was strawberries and cream, and a whole jar of pickle onions, went off curry chips up until a year after, with my 6 year old daughter it was water, i drank gallons of it.
I did have a fancy one bank holiday after midnite that i can remember of pizza, but everwhere was closed so OH went and did some toast with tomatoe sauce, cheese and ham great stand in.
With my youngest daughter, soon to be 3 on the 21st of december, i wasn't that well, the only thing i can remember is my dislike for chicken tikka and anything else that was like curry.
For both my pregnancy's (girls now aged 5 & 7) i craved mashed potato and gravy for every meal, even breakfast :D but only between weeks 6- 20 of pregnancy.I know i'm a weirdo! :D
Shouldn't be on here but couldn't resist!
Fish fingers and fizzy cola bottles (y'know the sour 1p sweets?) For the first three months I would have one fish finger and £3 worth of fizzy cola bottles a day, everything else made me feel sick! Even when my mouth hurt like hell I still had to suck all of the sugar off of the cola bottles!
Also before I knew I was pregnant, we had had a BBQ with some minted lamb kebabs, I ate them as usual and loved them as usual, then that evening I did the pregnancy test, and up until only a few weeks ago I couldn't stand even the thought of mint sauce or lamb, even walking past lamb in the supermarket used to make me feel ill, but for some reason about a month ago it just went, and I said to my hubbie I really fancied some lamb and mint sauce and it was lovely!! I had a horrid thought go through my mind that I was pregnant again!!! ;)
This may take a while as i have 7 kids........
When pregnant with my eldest daughter i craved sausages, every meal was sausages.Shes now nearly 18.
My second pregnancy craving on my son was large mac donnalds milk shake, chocolate flavour, with a large helping of fries to dip in it.Hes now 14 yrs old
Third sons craving was the foam from the arm chair.Hes now 12yrs old.
Fourth son was cornflakes and nothing but.Hes 10 yrs old.
Then came another daughter and i ate nothing but ice lollies, just the plain orange ones, and cream eggs.Shes 9 yrs old.
Another son and the craving was cheese and onion chrisps.Hes nearly 4yrs old now.
And the last, but not least came the final son and i had a craving for peanut M&M's.Hes 2yrs old.
I went off drinking tea on all my pregnancies, cant stand the smell of cornish pasties even to this day.
Lol mine was dettol :) I got told off for bathing in it so wore is as perfume and filled pot purri pots with it,, i was going through a large bottle a week :o :D
Mine was smelling pine disinfectant.....and i wouldn't use any other washing powder other than bold because i just loved the smell ;-)
I used to love cod roe and chips, but with both pregnancies i went off roe :-D

I started eating bacon and drinking tea instead of coffee!
Good grief, you lot aren't enticing me to the idea of pregnancy! :D I know my mum craved spicy food when she was pregnant with me and from a tiny age, I loved the stuff, however I'm sure that didn't ring true for any of your offspring, what with sofa stuffing and dettol! :D :D

Cat litter (unused!!!) and Ariel washing powder!!! They do say when you get such odd ones it's usually a deficiency though. Otherwise it was grapes and Dime bars. :)

With my Son (1978) it was Ginger Beer - with my Daughter(1983) it was Roast Dinner

With Matthew(8) it was Mr Muscle Kitchen cleaner and pickled onions, with Bronwyn(4) it was Snickers I probably had two or three in total now Bronwyn has a nut allergy.
Mary
With matthew who is 21 yr old i had cravings for lemons and pickled onions..i used to sit and eat a jar a day and as for lemons i could eat two one after the other....makes me cringe now...
Glad to see it wasn't just me that craved sponges!!
i'm guessing you mean bath sponges and not cakes cos i still like cakes! :D
with my son (now 3) i couldn't get enough of sponges, i had to chew them. Not eat them or bite bits off just have them in my mouth. it was all i could think about all day!
With my daughter (now 6 months) it started again but also included cleaning my teeth ALL the time and right in the back of my mouth and even my tongue all the way back to where it would normally make you gag. The sponge had to be covered in strong smelling soap then rinsed then chewed!!!
Also went totally off lamb and mint grill steaks with my son and still cant face them now! :-(
LOVED green apples (even cooking ones) and also fizzy sweets same as someone else.
Perhaps i'm as weird as i thought ! ;)

I craved milk with my last daughter and had up to 6 pints a day, I remember once at work I saw the milk man arrive and bought a bottle from him and stood and drank the pint from the bottle straightaway in the car park! She weighed in at 10lb 6oz when born!

I craved those 'flying saucers' sweets, sugar paper filled with sherbert.....bit naughty really as I'm diabetic.....plus with ALL 4 of my pregnancies I've had cravings for ice-cubes, would sit munching on pints of them, surprised my teeth survived....lol.
Went off tea and coffee and Herbal tea would give me a migraine.
I craved iceburg lettuce! lol But it had to be washed, chopped up and left in the fridge until it was nice and cold, especially loved the crunchy bits!! :D
I pretended ;) to have cravings so my hubbie would trot off to the 24 hr tesco to get me whatever I fancied at the time :D
haha! Go Balibee! Unfortunately my other half doesn't drive, so if i have cravings when i'm pregnant, it'll be me scooting round for everything-he can foot the bill :D :D I detest cheese, so i can pretty much guarantee, my craving will be cheese. I bloomin' hope not......!
