Have just bought a 'new' car (a vauxhall vectra estate) and so need a dog guard to fit it. Does anybody know whether I would be better off going for the Vauxhall guard (at £92) or the barjo guard (at £90).
Thanks

I had Astras for about 20 years (now downsized to a Clio). I had a Vauxhall fabric mesh dog guard for the last one which I found to be the best I've had (but then I don't have destructive dogs!) and it is soooo easy to fit and take out too, which was important to me as I often move than just my dogs!! :(
If you decide that it is what you want, I think that I have an 'as new' one in the garage. I'm sure that we could do a better deal than £92!!
Hi,
I'm really looking for something pretty strong (previous guard was very solid and bolted to the car) as I like to tie the leads to it for extra security so I don't think a fabric one would do the job. Thanks for the offer though.

I own a Vectra Estate and have a Barjo Dog Guard and Tail Gate Guard fitted. I would certainly recommend them :) I assume it is the metal guard you are looking at purchasing from Vauxhall as oppose to the fabric one? I do have a fabric one (somewhere!) that came with the car, but I have never used it and would go for a metal one every time as it would be far safer if you were ever involved in an accident.
Where do you get the Barjo dog guards from? And do they make them for every make/model of car? I have a Corolla and have the Toyota guard which is great but my better half is struggling to find one for her Renault Laguna Estate.
Any ideas?
Below is a link to their website. If you look under Products - Dog Guard, it gives a list of cars. If it isn't there you could always call them and they may be able to custom make one :)
BarjoI've just had a quick look and they do make one to fit the Laguna Estate. They do 2 versions, one for 95 - 01 cars and the other for 01 onwards. HTH
Ask the garage if you can see their guard, my old Astra estate had a metal
Vauxhall guard in it. But the mesh wasn't as small as Barjo's.
So as a discription the Vauxhall's squares you can fit 4 Barjo ones to one
Vaxuhall one. Barjo squares are roughly 2 inches wide and Vauxhalls are 4 inches wide.
You'd probably be better off going for Barjo plus if you can the tailgate guard is also
another good addition. It means in the summer you can leave your boot open with the
dogs still kept safely in the car without the need for leads.
I personally have a Guardsman dog cage for my Astra estate. But I know that the older
Vectra estates were actually narrower than the Astra due to the rear suspension housing
coming into the rear floor space about one third of the way from the boot. I tried to fit
my cage into my OH's vectra estate at the time sussing out if I should buy it when he changed
it, LOL.
Don't know what the newer ones are like though...But Vectra's are nice....
I have another Astra estate now, I am a 'Vauxhall' person :)

We had a vectra estate (s reg) and that had a frabric vauxhall guard. It was very strong as it used the load fixing points on the car to fix it in place. The only drawback was if we left the dogs in the car buster would get through the side and sit in the drivers seat

he only did this when we werent in the car and he is collie size. The guard was flexible hence allowing him to stretch it to squeeze through. Personally i would go for a metal one now.

We have a Barjo guard and tailgate guard and we're very pleased with them. They are really friendly people we got a good deal as we bought both from them. They fitted them both for us and even provided us with coffee while we waited.
