Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Online entry gone wrong
- By Sunbeams [gb] Date 26.11.05 17:36 UTC
Hi, just wondering whether a lot of people use online entering for shows.  I have done about 4 times now with no probs, but my friend phoned me last night to say she thought it funny her passes hadn't come for LKA.  When she phoned the Show Secretary, they had received her money (had gone from her account), but not her actual online entry.  We can't see how one could go through without the other, and they've got no explanation, but of course won't accept the entry now, will just refund her money.

She should have got an email confirmation after entering online. If she has that then I would have thought they HAVE to let her compete!

Well, the only email she's got is to say she'd paid, with a confirmation number, but no email with details of entry - don't think she realised as it's the first time she's used online entering.  The reason they won't allow the entry now is apparently because the catalogues have been printed.  They said they did wonder what the money was that had come through to them.  Must have been a computer hitch.

Thats the email she needs ...tell her to contact the show manager and send in a copy of the email plus proof the money has been taken from the account

Just because catalouges been done doesn't stop something in this situation!  How many people have "printer's errors" because dogs have been missed out of classes etc! :)  A slip get's given to the owner to give to the steward who will have to write the ame into the catalouge and make notes! :)

I'm involved with three shows & sometimes get people whose entries haven't arrived It's quite simple to get an entry form filled in etc & the details passed to the ring steward. It's not as complicated as an obedience show were each class has to be slipt if their are more than 60 entries but the same principle applies their too i always check my accounts on all three sites to ensure the entries(& the number of the form have been recorded)when |I enter online

I think that because money has been taken from her account then they can still enter her in.

SImilar to when you have Proof of posting, a bank statement with money deducted will allow entry.  I'm assuming that she also has e-mails from the online entering company (whichever it is)? This proves she enterd.

I'm about 90% sure that is the case however hopefully someone will correct me (quickly) if I'm wrong! :)

edit: See mel gets in my main point in much less words! :) and so quicker!

Like mel and rox have said as long as your friend has proof of posting (email corformation ect) then they have to let you enter. I went to an open show last week and we found the our names weren't in the catalogue but i always keep the SAE the we send with every entry in a folder in the grooming box so that they are alway with me at shows, anyway we showed that to the secretary and everything was fine.

If the monies gone out of the account they can't refuse.  I've taken my cheque stub and bank account details to shows before now and I've always been alowed to enter.

Yep me too, I took a copy of my cashed cheque to a show last year, and there was no problem.

If the money has been taken then she can go.  she only needs to take the proof of payment.

I'd ring the KC for further clarification...
LKA are really strict about entry deadlines.....

I can't remember if the KC only accept proof of postage certificate
re the entries. It's in their rules and regs but wonder if they've updated
them now to include the new 'technology' of entries on-line?
Hence why I'd ring them for further clarification.

I've only had to use the proof of postage certificate once.
My entry had been received late by the club and secretary had rung
to say the entry had been rejected.
It was very strange as my other entry posted exactly the same day
was received by another club well within entries closing date.
Anyhow to cut a long story short I photocopied my proof of postage
certificate and sent it back to the secretary along with a copy of my
entry form etc. They then accepted my entry...
On the day of the show my bitch then beat the secretary's bitch to win
her class :D

Hope your friend has a positive outcome to this predicament.

With the proof of payment they would have to take the entry.  If they didn't you could kick up some stick.

The secretary of LKA also returned my entry this year and a couple others I know. All had been sent a few days before closing but they said they arrived after the closing.
Surely don't need the business ;-) making too much money.

I would be interested to know how many entries were returned this year that were recieved within 5 working days of closing ( I mean after)

To be honest I stuck it in the post and they decided not to go so they saved me £65.

Did they send it back to you in the envelope that it went in?  If it had the post stamped before the closing date again there they wouldn't have a leg to stand on as they are accepted per the post date.
- By ice_queen Date 28.11.05 13:20 UTC
LKA is the one show I know of that won't accept entries after the date! :)  Only show we used to send off early untill enterd online!
- By Dawn-R Date 28.11.05 15:57 UTC
Yes, as Perrodeaga says, if the envelope you posted, carries the stamp of the closing date, or even before, they have to accept it. Your Proof of posting would have the same date on it. In these circumstances I would damn them and go to the show anyway with my proof of posting in my hand. Honestly, they MUST allow you to exhibit, they will pass your information to the KC which will investigate if they deem it neccessary. But LKA HAVE to allow you to show if you have a proof of posting. So it doesn't matter if they never received your entry at all, if you have a proof of posting.

I've given up entering on-line unless I realised too late the date was here!!! You can enter upto midnight. But I've had 4 problems with the people processing it that I've given up now!!! Not worth the hassle of re-arranging the entries via e-mail and haveing to keep or print them all off. Much better to send it in the post and get proof of posting. As everyone says...they HAVE to accept your entry on the day regardless...as long as you have proof of posting. :D
