i got puepa my EBT x LHASA APSO at 6/7 weeks old.  she was a black and brown brindle. her mother was a dark black and brown brindle. in the litter i was told there were some all whites with either a  black ear or  blavk patches on eyes typical in EBT. and some other brindles ranging from light brown and black brindle to dark brown and black brindle.

my girl also has a white chin and a white tummy with some golden parts in her brindle.

however she is now comign on 12 weeks and she is turning white!

she is growing long fur all over her body and its white. between her eyes and right along the nose to her snout is hair which has gron to almosy an inch long and it is a blond white.

she also has a beard growing and inch long fur along the backs of her legs.

her tail and the spin of her back remains very short haired and dark.

on her stomach she is broken coated witch patched of smooth glossy fur and then strands of long white hait coming through.

any ideas on what to expect?

will she grow a long coat liek a lhasa? i met up with a lady who owns a few the other day and she saw pue and said at that age her pure bred lhasas had fur about the same length.

and is white dominant over the brindle?

she will look very odd if she grows long fur as she is built liek a brick out house and has the roman haed of the EBT.

i love her all the same.

Hi, why did you have a pup at 6/7 weeks?? Just wondered as I would never advocate a pup leaving it's family until at least 8 weeks, thanks, Dawn

i had her at that age becasue thats when they were leaving there mum. and as they were doign very well it was not a problem. also as the pups were living out side with no human contact it was probably a good thign that she did come to me that early so i coudl start the socilising process sooner rather than later.
my vet was pleased with her health and progress when i got her.

6 weeks is the very earliest.

A lot of pups are now rehomed at 6 week onwards,it's just the way it is now.

I don't know ANY ethical breeder who homes puppies at 6 weeks. :(

Thanks Val, neither do I!!! In some areas of the World they sign up for 75 days minimum before they go to new homes. I'm afraid I think pups are too young to go to a new home at 6 weeks, whatever the 'arguement for it'! I can't bear to part with mine before 8 weeks but the GDB place there at 6 weeks with a great deal of success.

Isabel, don't forget that GDB put their 6 week old pups in experienced puppy walker homes to start with.  A bit different to your average family home who haven't had a pup before, or a Mum with 3 children under 5 running around etc etc etc.......

Very true and they provide as much support as the walkers require but then most of my puppy buyers are experienced too, have as much support as they require and never go to families with very young children :)  Having said that I don't part with my puppies before 8 weeks because I am going to enjoy them as long as is reasonably possible.

I don't know anyone who'd home a pup before 7½ weeks minimum. Toy breeds often stay till 10 or 12 weeks because they're more fragile.

hi there dont know much about ebt's but have owned and bred lhasa for many years.
firstly what a weird mix ,you do mean a english bull terrier crossed with a lhasa dont you?
what ever possesed this breeder to put these two dogs together.but of cause your not to blame for this as the new owner of this puppy,seems these babies will be better off in there new homes

anyway back to your original question lhasa coats do change colour and the best indication is to look at the root colour at around 10 -12 weeks this can sometimes (not always) give you a indication of the final coat colour.  black brindle's,mostly do turn to grey with the odd exception keeping there birth colour,gold's tend to stay gold but lighten off dramatically,gold and white's can also fade with time and age sometimes practically looking white all over.
dont take this as all lhasa coats change some do keep there rich gold,black brindle colours with no change at all visable ,its really just the luck of the draw.

its not a matter of when i got the pup. the pup is here with me now and is thriving.

it was not a planned breeding. the owners of the English bull terrier bitch were lookign after a friends lhasa apso and they did nto let the dogs together. however the lhasa caught the bitch at the end of her season.

they were nto intrested in the pups and just wanted to get rid of them as the owners them self has just had a baby and coudl nto cope.
the pups were doing well and thriving.

Sorry to go off topic but where did you get your little black and white pup from as he/shes the spitting image of one of Lillys litter mates (my dog) I got her from Warrington Rescue centre. 

and I apologise for looking through your pictures but cant help looking at pics of dogs and your horse if beautiful :-D

Just read another of your threads and you say Lupin is a collie staffy cross, my Lilly is a boxer collie cross so thats why they look similar.
