If anyone is thinking about insuring their dogs I cannot recommend this company enough! They have been brilliant and for the monthly charge of £10.65 (no excess) I don't think many companys can beat that! They have just settled a huge bill for me no questions asked and paid the vet directly which was fantastic. My vet says they are the best company around for the price and cover you get, but hardly anyone uses them as they think there is a catch as policy seems to good to be true.(£7000 anual cover). So if anyone is looking for cover give them a try as you may be pleasantly surprised!

Im with them for Libby and Hattie- fingers crossed not had to claim yet though :)

I am just putting a claim in the post to them today so that is good to hear. I have put a few people on to them already because of the no excess and the fact that they insure older dogs for not much more of a monthly premium. I will be interested to see how long they take to settle my claim.

Thanks for the info.  I am looking for insurers at the moment as we have just bought a puppy.  I will certainly consider them.

We've just insured Nips with M & S and the policy documents arrived today. Certainly the cover seems really excellent for the price because we've gone for the full works but it was still only £116 plus you get 5% off if you pay with your M & S Chargecard. We've only got one because of the bad old days when M & S didn't take normal plastic but it's now come in handy again!!!

M&S took about 2 weeks to pay first time, but second time they dealt with the vet so i think it took about 3 weeks but I don't know if they put the claim in straight away. The staff are very helpfull and responsive and give them10/10 for customer satisfaction!

I've heard loads of good things about this insurance policy and i have gone with them  too.My uncle's dog has been really ill this week, bless her,she a old lady now. and has cost him nearly £400 so far.The family then started to get at us ' what ever will you do if you dog gets ill. My answer simply ' Phone my insurance company'!! that shut them up and then started them asking lots of questions.

Just tried it but no use for us. We have 4 dogs over 8 years old so to change would cost an extra £47 per month. Never mind I will stick with my old company :-(

We are getting a new puppy soon and I am going to have a real good search for a decent insurance policy.  Our last dog was insured with Churchill.  It has taken them over 6 weeks to pay out on the life assurance claim and I only received the cheque after threatening them with the Ombudsman.  This was after sending 4 faxes and making hundreds of phonecalls.  Shadows death was stressful enough without having insurance hassle too.

I'm with them and they've been great.  We've had a few claims, one really large and a few small and they've always paid out.  This last one took about 3 weeks.  I rang them and they said it was processed and passed for payment, so give them a ring to be sure.  I got the impression that they have a lot of claims at the moment so it's taking a bit longer.  I just needed to know if it had been ok'd as I needed to submit a 2nd one.

But seriously I can't recommend them highly enough!  I'd been with Petplan for 7 years, and was happy with them, but getting a 3rd dog it was getting expensive so I checked out others.  I was amazed at M&S and what they offered (almost identical to Petplan) and read through the Terms and Conditions several times before going ahead.  Within a month of starting my oldest had emergency surgery and they paid up no problem (took about 2 weeks).  We got our renewal this year and everyone stayed the same monthly payment.  My oldest turned 8 in November and I expected her excess to go up from there, but as she was still 7 at time of renewal (September) she is treated as 7 till next renewal.  I was REALLY pleased wtih that.

If you haven't received a letter from them denying your claim then it's probably just held up in processing.  I had one claim rejected (that I expected to be, but you always try) and heard back from them pretty quickly on that one.

Glad to hear your premium has stayed the same.
We have M&S insurance for our 2 dogs which is due for renewal in Feb we haven't had a claim (so far) so hopefully our premiums will stay the same.

Blues leg injury happened back at the end of september, the claim form was sent 1 week later, so i suppose you could say its now been 2 months and ive had nothing! Im not exactly pleased as i thought they were supposed to be good with  paying out and by not taking 2 months to do so, ive phoned a number of times to be told their dealing with it and i should get my cheques shortly! HA!

If I remember correctly, didn't you have an issue with them as to whether they would pay out for the home visit or not.  That is probably what is holding it up.
- By Blues mum Date 28.11.05 12:25 UTC
Yeah, they wanted me to send a seperate claim form for that and also a headed letter from the vet herself that treated Blue that day, thing is though, they already said the cheque had been delt with for everything else and that id be receiving it soon and that they would treat the home visit claim form separately from the rest, this was a few weeks back now.

Not encouraging news. I am just to put in an £800 claim on Breeze which I laid out for, I hope they don't take too long to pay out as my credit card company will be hounding me.
- By Blues mum Date 28.11.05 17:50 UTC
I know, im waiting to pay mine off, as thats what it all went on! I hope you get your claim delt with alot quicker than i have mine, its ridiculous!

- By Emz77 [gb] Date 29.11.05 12:23 UTC
I am about to put in a claim with them at the the moment it stands at £1505.00 but I still have one last appt to have (Thursday) then treatment of Blade should be complete.
They will be paying the vets direct so hopefully everything should go smoothly.
(Ihope so as I don't have £1505 in spare cash anywhere :-) )

Just made another call to M&S and the reason i havent had my cheques is because they sent them to KENT!! As i said to them, that aint no good is it, im in Lincolnshire for a start!! Then they asked me when i changed my address lol I said, ive lived here for 5 years! So now their sorting it and sending the cheques out again to my correct address! What a mess!
