What does my Ridgeback have to wear for showing?  We are not talking fancy dress!! :D
At the mo she wears a metal choke and chain lead, but the lead is murder on the hands!! Is there any 'correct' thing she needs or is it anything goes. As there are so few classes for Ridgebacks near me I have to wait till January until i can go and see a breed class.People at ringcraft aren't sure either. Maybe i should have got a more common breed!!

Ok had alook at a few RR breeders websites and noticed they are shown on either full lengh chains (like you have) or chain and lead.  which might be your best option.  Get a chain long enough to hang loosly round your dog eck and get a lead (leather preferably but can be cloth) to attach to the chain! :)

I only use full lengh chains on trainned dogs that I can run on loose leads :)  Otherwise yes they do hurt.  Chains are not ideal to be holding on to :)

Thanx ice-queen!
When i looked on RR sites i couldn't see ant trend but i thought i'd get a v.fine choke that was extra long to hang around her neck and then a fine leather lead. Any ideas where i can get these from?! Pets at home and local pet shops no go. :-(

Your best bet would be to try at shows however if you can't get to any the find luxway website as they show leads and chains :)  I'm sure others could help with other places :)

I only looked at a couple and it all looked like chain and lead :) I think this is what I have seen RR's shown on aswell when watchig them ringside.

Thanks for all your help, after asking someone else at ringcraft we have deciede that best is thin chain and fine lead like boxers etc. next prob is where to get it as they all get theirs from shows, and the next show where i can get equipment is one i'm entered in in Jan. Is it too risky to wait till day of the show to get new stuff? she won't have any time to get used to it?
Any suggestions?
Thanks for the welcome starryeyes if it was directed at me!! ;)

Hi Helen
Just wondering where you were going to see a breed class - I too am a Ridgie lover and am in Devon.  Have you got a chain sorted for your young bitch yet?

Hi, I show my Ridgebacks on a brass chain and leather lead, that seems to be what most people use at shows, although I have seen a few use a full leather slip lead and collar in one (not sure what they are called).  There are very few shows that have Ridgeback classes, I phoned for 15 schedules for the next few months and only 3 have ridgeback classes.  Where in the country are you?  There are 2 open shows in February in Sussex that have RRs.
