Topic Dog Boards / Health / Cleaning An Incision (a little oozy)
- By Dexters_mom [ca] Date 23.11.05 00:35 UTC
My boxer had surgery last friday to remove a lump that was close to his armpit and the incision is looking a little pussy in one spot. He's been taking an antibiotic clavamox(1000mg/day) for 5 days now and is also undergoing chemotherapy, so his immune system is lowered. Anybody know what I should be cleaning the incision with? Mild soap, a pinch of salt? He goes back to the vet friday but I would like to do something about it before then. Thanks

I'd give your vets surgery a ring for advice.

I used boiled water and salt (warm) to help clean up this kind of thing, but check with your vet first ;)

My vet used to give me some hibiscrub for this, but now he glues operations incisions so it doesn't happen.

Ditto Dill.

Warm regards Susan
