My 9month old lab still has one puppy canine tooth alongside her adult one.  It doesn't seem at all wobbly and I wonder if I should take her to the vets to get it removed.  I'm concerned that it may lead to infection in the new tooth if it stays there much longer.

I'd certainly have it removed. If the root hasn't reabsorbed by now (making the tooth shed naturally) it's unlikely to do so at all.

hi dudleyl, my nearly 6 month old has exactly the same problem, my puppy trainer advised her having it checked at her 6 month check up (which is soon) and seems to think the vet will take the tooth out the same time as being spayed so she doesnt have to go under twice. It doesnt seem to annoy her and i am sure it has become slightly loose although this may be wishful thinking, lol but i would take a trip to the vets.

If your lab still has all her puppy teeth at this age I would check with the vet, this is most unusual (although I did know somebody who had all her baby teeth at 16)! :D

Most dog have all their adult teeth by six months.

A good way of ensuring puppy teeth fall out is to give raw knuckle bones to chew.

My JD still had all 4 canines until two days before his first birthday & I had threatened him with going to see the vet if they hadn't come out by his birthday. He managed to lose them with 2 days left before his birthday

Like tohme wrote lots of raw knuckle bones will help

My Rottie x GSD has just about finished teething now and is just 5 months.

gemma, you might not of even noticed them falling out, i only found a few teeth when she shook her head and they went flying across the floor, also noticed from the amount of blood i found on stolen chewed socks! I presume she swallowed the rest.

I'm slightly confused now, do all their teeth fall out & are replaced by new ones (like humans end up gummy for a bit)? I'm must sound really silly but she's my first pup & I hadn't really thought about it until I read this post & then it got me thinking!  She has a full set of what look like to me adult teeth not sharp pinsers like when she was a young pup!  I've noticed some blood on a bone she chews some months ago n thought that might be her teeth then but I've never noticed any of them loose or anything like that!!! Help!!!

I managed to find about 5 of Edward's little teeth, one was here at the office, (one of his back teeth) so I stuck it to my keyboard with blue tack as a momento of his puppy days! eeekkkk... the things we do eh?

My puppy regularly has raw bones but these haven't loosened the little blighter.  I spoke to my vet this morning and she will have a look, but she seemed to think along the lines of 'give it another couple of months'.

Yes. I've got a 16 week old pup whose right in the middle of teething and I'm thinking I should have called him "Gummy" rather than "Nipper". I haven't seen any lost puppy teeth which would have been tiny but there's certainly a lot of space in his mouth where teeth used to live!

Blade has just two more teeth to come out (but adult ones are already through) he is now 5 months. He never really had a gap as his literally gre through withing a fewdays and were half grown through when most of the baby teeth have fallen out so he never had a gummy stage!! Mind you I am 28 and still have milk teeth too :-D
