- By Chloe and Bufy [gb] Date 21.11.05 08:47 UTC
Buffy was really poorly in the night and has had to go to the vets, sat a thome waiting for vet to call... :( worried thought i'd post on here to people who understand!!

Buffy was sick before bed and then at about 3.00am she satrted wimpering (we thought she was dreaming) at about 5.00 we found her laying on the floor in strange positions a couple of times shivering and panting, then we had her on the bed while we decided what to do with her, I thought i'd take her to see if she want a wee or pooh in case like her normal self she had eaten something and got tummy ache - carried  her downstairs put her on the floor to get lead to save me chasing her round the garden and her back end just collapsed and she sat there looing at me pantng and shaking... rang the vet emergency number and took her in, she is now standing up a bit and they have given her some acp to try and calm her. Doing bloods and xrays... really worried she is going to be one years old on december 1st shes only a baby!

have checked everywhere to see if ifs shes gott'n something she shouldnt ( she is naughty!)

will keep you informed!

Sorry to hear about Buffy. It's a real worry when you don't know the cause but hopefully the test results will reveal the problem and at least you'll know what you're dealing with.
Hope the news is good.

Hi Chloe

One of my dogs had exactly the same symptoms when she was 2 weeks pregnant.  It was severe constipation!  I was sooooo worried because her back legs went, she was sick once and the smell was terrible.  Within 8 hours she was back to her normal self again.

About 8 Spanish all around the country had similar symptoms within a week of each other, some very parvo type symptoms too, but it wasn't parvo as some were tested for it!

None of these dogs had been in contact with each other so it was very strange!

Hope it doesn't happen again, poor Buffy. You must have been frantic! :-(

I have been worried all day, I did wonder if it was severe tummy ache as she is really bad for eating naughty things, even though we are very careful (we are tidy people now!!) three weeks ago she had to have a trip to the vets and liquid parafin for stealing the roast pork string out of the bin!!

She is very very sleepy today and has either tucked herself up on the sofa in a blanket or in our bed! still worried about her, I want the bouncy bubbly naughty puppy back even if she makes me cross!!

Just wish the tests and xrays had showed somehting to explain things... hope its not the start of something serious :(

Anyway off to snuggle with my puppy on the sofa

Thanks for all your good wishes

Hope Bufy is feeling better today? They do worry us don't they? I remember when Maddie was really poorly and stayed at the vets for a whole week, I cried every day, nearly all day, I just wanted her back :(  Even now when she has/does things she shouldn't I'm just glad she's here.

Buffy is back to her normal self well almost we did havea bit of shivering this morning, she is on metacam just incase she has some pain somewhere? (I held off for a few days as didint want to hide anything, but the vets dont want to do anything else till we have tried it) but baisically no one has any idea what was wrong with her... she was so poorly and looked very ill and very distressed at the time, however the main thing is that she is fine and is back to being a houdini as she has visited the neighbours gardens twice this week either under or over the fence.... new fencing is now on order and buffy is restricted to the lead until it arrives and is fitted hopefully on monday cause it is far to cold to stand in the garden holding a lead!

Anyone with any further ideas on these synptoms I would love to hear anything

Don't want to worry you but is it possible she ate some slug pellets? or dead slugs? (in yours or your neighbours garden) its a long shot but slug pellet poisoning can cause similar symptoms ;) maybe your vet could test for this?

Will have to ask neighbour in morning, we never use them but our neighbour could, though I know shes organic, but if a slug form someone elses garden got in to ours as we have neighbours at the back and diagonally as well as side to side then it would be possible! I know one side wont the side she gets in most as they have two lakelands and they are as naughty as buffy!!

Thanks for the idea, will look into it.... I need to find out for my peace of mind, turning into a worried mother!!
