What crate size would be appropriate for a dobie who will be 5 months when he arrives?

We bought the biggest one we could find. Ebay have a few shops selling various models. Good luck with the pup

Probably the 42" or 48" long models if you don't want to have to buy one now and one when he's older. You might have to block off a portion of the crate to begin with if he's not clean in there already.

I would definately recommend the 48" length 30" wide by 35" high. My boy Dobe is now 5 months old and he is in one this size as the size below just wasn't big enough!

Brilliant - many thanks to you all. I was thinking 42 or 48 so that's really interesting. Just need to decide what to do about the car now as I can't fit a dog guard as I'm using a friends car for a few months and no way will a crate fit in the boot!

Most dobe people I know use teh 42 long crates by 30 high x 28 wise.  These are practical enough to fit in some cars, much bigger and they becoem unwieldy.

I only suggested the 48" crate as I had a 42" and my dobe who is 5 months was struggling to fit in it. At the moment he is 25 1/2 at the withers and has a bit more growing to do yet. We actually brought ourselves a brand new car for the dog, (ford Ranger thunder) plenty of room for dog (crate and all) plus we go camping and travel regularly and we have never struggled for space..
