Have you been giving folic acid?  this is supposed to help
- By bobbbie [gb] Date 18.11.05 18:15 UTC
do i give folic acid all the time or only when she comes into season
- By chocymolly [gb] Date 18.11.05 16:45 UTC
Vitamin E is supposed to aid fertility, don't know if this would help.

thanks for those answers i will definatley try both of these, i will tell a little story , 4 years ago i mated 4 dogs for 3 years and never got any pups at all, but in the mean time i had all sorts of culture tests done and all the vet could give me was synulux, but never worked so i took it on my own back to ask a very good friend to get me some ultra-pen and another drug , then i gave the medication myself and ended up with getting 3 litters out of 4, and saved myself a lot of money without going to the vets, £40 a shot must have saved myself a furtune.

bobbbie,

I've had it suggest to me several times now to give my bitch Raspberry Leaf tablets, this is supposed to be a natural birthing aid given from 3rd week of pregnancy to 1 week after birth, Vitamin E is found in Wheatgerm Oil capsules to be given 1 week before mating and continued until 3 weeks after mating, both of these are available at Dorwest Herbs, don't know if there is anything else recommended.

do i give vitamin d all the time or only when she starts her season

It's vit E, not D, and i've started giving folic acid to my bitch already although she's not due in season 'til end of Jan.

No, i've never bred a litter before, just passing on the advice that I have received and which I will be following for my bitch as I want to give it the best that I can and do the best for her as well
