ACTUALLY my dogs name is very normal. I have a brindle/white boxer called Ruby!!!!!!!!!
Its my kids who hate me!!!!!!
Although their given names are quite normal i tend to lengthen them.
For the last 4 years my youngest Callum is affectionally know as CALLALOOLYLOOLYLOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jake is just puddenchops!! Jake especially hates it when i take him to school and kiss him in front of his mates (he is 9 nearly) then shout across the play ground Puddenchops!!!!!!!!!!!! HEE HEE :D :D
Amuses me no end :D
Hubby is Darling Bottom :D OOOooooohhhheeeeeeeerrrrrrrrr :D
My guinea pigs alive and deceased are Wiggles, Piggles, Tiggles, giggles, honey, crunchie, peanuts.
Rabbits are Treacle and Fudge!!! (Fudge deceased :( )
See I am quite normal!
- By juliet [gb] Date 09.07.02 10:21 UTC

- By mattie [gb] Date 09.07.02 09:10 UTC
Here goes I know Im going to be unpopular here but why on earth do people call choc labs choc names it drives me mad :mad:after all if you called black labs BLACKIE well you couldnt shout that round here,or yellow labs yeller or custard , I know theres some good choc names but I for one name my puppies when they have been around me a while and have shown me their personality and a name just crops up.
Willliam was PUPPY for quite a few weeks then he was named and it suited him as he was like Just William always in trouble ;) Minnie was named as she is like a clumsy idiot so its as in Minnie Tonka and Harriet is so sweet it suits her so well,Mattie wasnt named by me as I got her when she was older so not sure about that but think it was because her coat was a mat black which isnt quite correct for labs .The one and only Choc lab I owned we called Flynn because his Kc name was Oakhouse O'Malley.
Anyway good luck in finding a good name.
- By LeahLoo [gb] Date 09.07.02 09:19 UTC
My choccy lab is Dylan cos we got him from Wales and I wanted a Welsh name - if we had got one of the bitches we would have named her Bethan. Dylan's sire's (also choc) pet name is Rolo!! :)
- By juliet [gb] Date 09.07.02 11:11 UTC
Oooohhh..

Dylan's lovely!

My three girls chocolate girls are Mars Bar (Mars) , Minstrel (Min) and Moose (chocolate Mousse), (Moose).

We have never called them by the full name as you feel a bit of a prat calling them and also having a shortened name always helps if they are quite a distance away for easier recognition.

I know of other chocolate boys owned by friends called Oscar and Rolo.

Mar's puppies were called Min, Bracken, Rolo, Shera. ( I quite like Bracken)

At the end of the day it is down to you what you call them as he is going to be your boy !

Hi Mattie
I do know what you mean but I have got to confess that I follow *black* names for my cats!
We've got - Majic, Jack, Pudding & Smith :D
Sadly only Jack [$ Puds left now and hubby said next one would have to be called *Eye* as that's what i'd have got if I brought anymore home! ;)
I think you can do a lot with an idea for a theme, it's surprising where it takes you - we even thought of calling one *Bird* :D
Nicky
- By ALI.C [gb] Date 09.07.02 12:30 UTC

ROFLMAO @ Melody :D :D
- By cazmar [gb] Date 09.07.02 13:43 UTC
thanks for all those some really good ones, and not so good LOL. I don't really like calling a dog by a human name, our last dogs were called jet(we got him from a house near manchester airport) and the other was misty (very foggy out when we brought him home)
all let us now how you came up with names should be fun
- By Lynda [gb] Date 09.07.02 13:49 UTC
Hallo Cazmar,

Our Labrador was named within the first few hours of being at home (he was 12mths when we got him) Tigger, yep bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, fun, fun, fun, fun etc. My first ex-racing greyhound I named Zola after Zola Budd again for obvious reasons, The other two came with their names already 'Dave' was different and we are told he does actually suit that and Tess the other lab, suits that and Tigger and Tess sound good together.

Have you decided on a puppy now?

Good luck in your search

Lynda:)
- By cazmar [gb] Date 09.07.02 13:58 UTC
hi lynda, yes I think it is going to be a puppy, my youngest son was not keen on a older dog. He has lots of ideas about training it( WE WILL SEE)
I think maybe I will wait to name him/her and see what personalaty it has. it is like naming a child, stuck with the name for life
- By LeahLoo [gb] Date 09.07.02 15:52 UTC
Another thought, Cazmar, is to find out what his KC name will be and derive something from that
- By bumblebeeacres [us] Date 09.07.02 18:10 UTC
How about:
Hank
Rowdy
Slim Jim
Buster
did someone say Hershey?
Yoohoo (chocolate drink)
- By dudleyl [gb] Date 09.07.02 20:02 UTC

Where we take Lacey to puppy training class ther is a lovely chocolate lab and his name is Sparky (doesn't suit him a bit) I like the name chocolate. Not very original but very suitable.
Good luck for Sunday.

I named my alaskan malamute Kodi after the Kodiak Islands off the coast of Alaska, my other choice was Willow but after we got her home we decided she was more of a Kodi dog :) And wishing you all the luck with your (hopefully soon to be) new bundle of fur
- By cazmar [gb] Date 10.07.02 13:41 UTC
thanks for that , yes willow is a nice name i will put that one on our list

- By Spellbinder [gb] Date 10.07.02 19:35 UTC
Here's a few names that I've used over the years..but when it comes to it...the right name just pops into your head when you look into your new pups eyes..I believe they choose it..not you!..lol
Males...Fleurie,Campbell, Ned, Rolo, Boris, Tonto, Able, Golly, Finnegan, Musto, Tally (Talisman), Solly, Dash, Cid, Marler,Beau.
Females...Minky, Pinot, Blaze, Topaz, Bolly, Merry, Gaia, Bubble, Tryst.
A good site to look at names is www.babyzone.com they have a name your baby bit...some unusual names plus a construct your own name facility!
Good Luck!..I'm sure the right name will come along
- By Lara Date 10.07.02 16:10 UTC
Flake reminds me of a bloke I used to work with years ago we called 'Flakey Roberts!'
No one would sit next to him in the staff canteen if they could help it :)
- By juliet [gb] Date 10.07.02 16:23 UTC
I've just read a post on another board and noticed that someone had called their woofer Poppy. I think that's a lovely name for a girlie.

Much better than Flakey Roberts - scary!
:)
- By cazmar [gb] Date 10.07.02 20:12 UTC
some good ideas there, it can be hard to pick after all they are stuck with it for lifedo not think the dog will mind, but come on I will have to shout " come here count chocula" while out for a walk, don't think so. keep them coming.
- By bumblebeeacres [us] Date 10.07.02 23:48 UTC
I thought it was cute, much better than Peewee.

You could try a site called www.petrix.com/dognames/h.html there are hundreds of names but some a a bit bizarre! (Who calls their dog Melon Head?) Good for a laugh though!

Jane
- By Kash [gb] Date 11.07.02 17:21 UTC
Melon Head sounds better than 'Comehereyoulittles**t' - which is what mine gets called most of the time:D :D :D :D
