Hello,

When I pick my puppy up from the breeder, he will already have had his first vaccination.
Does this mean that there is two parts to the injection or have I miss understood and she means his first yearly vaccinations and so he will be ready to face the outside world when we collect him.

Thanks for your help.

Puppy vaccinations are usually in two parts. I believe there are vaccines out there which are only given once. The "usual" one is given around 8 or 9 and 12 weeks. The 8 and 10 weeks version is becoming more widely available. You'll need to know which type the pup's been given, to know when the second jab is necessary. The breeder should give you a vaccination record card with the details on to show to your vet.

When you get him he'll have had the first of a two part injection. He'll need to have the second injection done two weeks after he had his first one and then you usually have to wait two weeks before you can put him down on the ground outside.

You can still take him out with you when before he has his second injection but you'll need to carry him and not let him have any contact with strange dogs if you're not sure of their vacinnation status.

Are you going to be at the show at Cranleigh on Saturday? If so I'll let you have an info sheet full of lots of useful things that I was given when we got Holly. Most of them are obvious but there's the odd little gem in there.

I don't know if this is what you mean but when I got Kassie she'd already had an vaccine at 6 weeks- I don't know exactly what this is for someone on here who breeds may be able to tell you but I can say that Kassie still had to have the other two vaccines. The first- I *think* was just for parvo?- It says Nobivac Parvo on her vaccine certificate. Then she had Vanguard 7:confused: followed by Vanguard Lepto? I'm not sure what each ones for but all the diseases boxes are ticked:) I'm sure the first one's just something breeders do? Please double check my info as you can tell I'm not sure;)

Fiona,

We would like to go to the show on Saturday as I think it would be very interesting for us. The only problem is that we are looking after a friends dog for the next couple of weeks and didn't know if we would be allowed to bring her as she is not a show dog (little beagle on the podgy side with a heart defect and dodgy hip!). If we can bring her then we will try and pop down, if not then we will have to give it a miss I'm afraid.

Hi Nicky, It's a Flower Show & Fete with an exemption show taking place so yes you can bring the dog & even enter her is some of the classes. Ingrid

I feel a bit daft now!

Never been to one of these before so do excuse me!

What time does it start?

Would love to come along.

All the details are here. I'd imagine it would be signposted once you get into Ellens Green.

Nicky, never feel daft for asking anything, there's no such thing as a silly question if you don't know the answer.
I've got to go that direction tonight, so I'll take a detour and see if they have any signs out yet & let you know. Ingrid
