Hi. Our pups will be 3 weeks on Tuesday. I started weaning them on Friday as per Mums breeders advice (who is very knowledable but away this weekend - how inconsiderate!!) onto Pedigree tinned puppy food (again, as per breeders advice!) They didn't seem overly keen to eat. My last litter (2 years ago) wolfed it down straight away. Same number of pups in litter, so wanted to follow the same reigieme, as the last lot did so well with their feeding. Was I just lucky with the 1st litter and maybe it takes some time for them to "enjoy" the taste??
Also, 1 of the girls had some diarrhoea on Friday evening, then a bit more last night. The other girl was also loose last night too. Shall I just continue? (I am feeding about 1 teaspoon of mushed food once daily, whilst pup is on my lap, letting him/her suck on the food til gone.) I suppose introducing any new food there will be some loose stools? All pups still suckling well from Mum. How do you guys do things??

I know you wanted to do as you did last time but I found pedigree puppy a bit rich until they were about 5 weeks.
I started mine on scraped raw beef and they absolutely wolfed it.I started with about a teaspoon each, once a day for 2 days then increased this to twice a day and once they were on 3 meals a day I increased the volume of food.
The last of my litter went today and now I feel like a lost soul.:(
Hopefully someone a bit more knowledgable will be along soon and can offer some better advice.:)
Goodluck with your puppies though :)
Hi Waffy,
I hate it when the pups leave - I was in floods of tears last time and am not looking forward to that part! Have told OH we will just have to keep 1! I kept 2 from last litter and they were hard work, I love them dearly though!
When you say scraped beef, is that the same as mince? ? Thanks for the advice.

No,I just got a piece of beef steak ( I just used to buy a joint of topside and slice into steaks and freeze what wasn't going to be used and just get a couple of slices out every night for the next day) and scraped it with a sharp knife.I did give mine minced beef though but only when they were eating properly.
