please can anyone help? we have a 3 year old great dane dog "buster" who things he is a greyhound. we have slowed him down and stopped him charging around so much , but his hips still give him problems. he limps on one after the other left and right this has been going on for about 6 months on and off but seems to be getting more frequent. now we have discovered that during the night he is urinating in his bed he is out regularly to have a wee and doesnt seem to drink exessively. he has now started to wimper more and want to go out to wee more.
we think the hips and the incontenance are related and so far have avoided a vet visit by massaging his leg we know we have to take him to the vet but the outcome seems bleak and we are thinking along the lines that he may have to be pts. we will take him to the vet but in the mean time can you give any advice or information many thanks lisa.

He may be finding it too painful to get out of bed - please stop avoiding this problem and get your dog to the vet for a proper diagnosis and some pain relief at least.

Please take him to a vet asap.  The longer you leave it, the more serious it could get.  It may be treatable now but not so easily treated in a few weeks time.

Lisa

May you never get a urine infection and be refused a visit to the doctor if you are crying with pain.

It is an extremely painful condition and if the new AWB had already come into effect I have little doubt you could be prosecuted for the information given in your post.

Please ring your vet NOW - if your dog is in pain, especially whimpering with pain it is up to you to ease his pain not wait until it suits you.  The only person that is likely to be able to help is your vet, dogs can be in agony before they even show us they are in pain.
