could anybody give me any information about (jack russell) stud farms in the Long Eaton area of nottingham.
on returning home from a weekend away, i found that my estranged ex-partner had given my terrrier away to a stud farm in Long Eaton, after a long search to be reunited with my " Rocky" .I find myself in need of help to try and retrieve a beloved friend
any information that could help would be much appreciated. thank you

Oh my god, that is horrible - I hope you find him.

I can think of only one word.  It begins with B, ends in D and isn't fit for posting on a polite forum such as this.

How awful for you.

I think that your first port of call should be the police, as even if you are lucky enough to trace where your dog has been taken/sold onto, you will need their back up to get your dog back, along with proof of purchase, microchip details (if you have), innoculation book, photo's as proof anything you can get your hands on, to prove ownership.

The police may also prosecute the 'stud farm' for taking a dog without proof of ownership.

You may also then prosecute your nasty ex-partner.  You do not know who you are dealing with, they are very unlikely to say "oh dear, we shall give you your dog back!"  Call the police.

Unfortunately the Police are unlikely to do anything.  My first dog was stolen by my estranged husband from my house and the Police weren't interested even though all her papers were in my nme.  they are viewed as goods and chattels, and if you lived together as comunal property.

I think he's probably pulling your leg. Stud farms are something horse breeders have and most dog breeder wouldn't describe themselves in such terms - even puppy farms don't describe themselves as such so check the yellow pages for local 'dog breeders' which is how they often advertise themselves. And unless he's a Parson and is KC registered, I couldn't imagine anybody seriously wanting him as a stud dog. It's worth checking though to pursue every avenue. Here's a couple of other things to do just in case.

1) check out the local animal shelters in case he's handed him in as unwanted.
2) Horribe I know, but check the local vets in case he's taken him to be put to sleep. It's better knowing what's happened even if it's something this horrible.
3) Keep a look out in the local free ad papers in case he has passed him on to a 'stud farm' who might try to sell him on.
4) Put an ad in the local papers, put him on www.doglost.co.uk and generally spread the word.

Actually Phoebe when I heard the term 'stud farm' I had the same inclination, but our guest seems to believe her dog has been past onto some sort of Jack Russell breeder for whatever reason.  Let's hope the dog is really still with the ex partner.  I'll tell you something, I would be round there cutting his goolies off myself and I would drag him with me by the hair to get my dog back. Along with my two brothers!! Or whoever I could muster as back up.  He sounds a seriously nasty bloke. But our guest proberbly isn't as fiesty as me when I'm wronged. Which is why I still recommend the police having a word!!!

Considering that the description "stud farm" was used, and that only Parsons are KC recognsied, but that horse people often have short legged JRTs, could it perhaps have been an ACTUAL stud farm as in horses??
- By onetwothree [gb] Date 13.11.05 12:48 UTC
Well, that's what I assumed Goldmali - that a horse stud farm had taken him on - not for breeding purposes.

Me again - my dad has asked around but does not know anything ?:-(

There is a riding stables in long eaton that also breeds horses so this could be classed as a stud farm?

They also have a few jrt's running around there - there were also puppies for sale there a few yrs ago.

I think it may be called st leonards riding school. May beworth a phone call.

Let us know how you get on.

The only stables in Long Eaton is St Leonards but the only JRTs I've seen there are quite old (although I haven't been there recently).

If you email with a description I know alot of people with JRTs in Long Eaton and might be able to help.

My email is on my profile.
